Looking to try DL for the first time, someone offered me a 2012 for my bottle of Creepster. Curious if anyone has done a comparison of 2012 Dark Lord vs a fresh one and what they thought? Cheers!

I tried 12-14 at a tasting last fall and 12 was my favorite of the 3.

I had the '12 last fall too and found it absolutely terrible. Three of us couldn't finish a bottle. Diff'rent strokes, I guess.

I drank a '12 on Christmas last year. Loved it.

we did a '08-'12 vert a couple years back. it gets smoother, but i dont necesarily picture someone that hates it fresh loving it aged; i think it's a love it or hate it beer.

In general Dark Lord gets better as it ages. 2012 was not my favorite vintage, but it is better with a few years on it than it was fresh.
