So this wash first DLD. Overall I liked it and thought it was a nice experience. A couple of complaints....I would have liked to see larger allotments but I understand it was to provide DL to more people which I understand. Would be great to have a better shot at BA versions. Also they should evenly distribute the availability for the BA variants for each group. Vanilla was gone early on. Lastly it would have been nice to know what versions of DL and BA were available versus word of mouth. But again, very nice event and friendly people!

My first DLD here too. I was in group D. I also attended the Hampton bottle share and brought some bottles to pour (The Wisconsin Belgian Red evaporated!). I couldnt believe the amount of bottles that were being shared at the bottle share and then at DLD. It was totally insane and provided me quite a few ticks on my list.

I think everyone would agree that the weather was perfect. It could not have been better. Even though we had to stand in line for almost two hours because of the delay (WTF was going on?), there were no complaints in our group. We just kept sharing bottles and talking to everyone. Enjoying the weather, the beer and the company.

I have never known of the troubles with the lack of space that the previous years have presented. I can tell you that this year, there was plenty of room to move around. Plenty of places to sit, either on the grass or at a table under the huge tent. I do wish there had been more food options though. I liked the brat that I had, but I imagined that there would have been more options being that freaking close to Chicago.

So did they ever say why they cut the allotment? I was told by some guys in group E that there were still tons of it left after the last few people bought theirs. Just curious.

We actually ended up going back the next morning. After getting our allotment and saying bye to some good friends and some awesome new ones, we drove back to the hotel, forgetting about buying other offerings. So we stood in line before noon and ended up getting some ZD, Permanent Funeral and Dreadnaught. They had picked up all of the dead soldiers that were lined up along the curbs. They were still taking down fencing and moving stuff out. It really looked like a hardcore festival had just taken place. I give them props for actually being fully open the very next day.

All in all, I had an amazing experience and I cant wait to go again next year. I cant thank the BAs enough that made it possible for me and my group to attend.

    Great job FFF!

They tweeted it that morning and IIRC, posted it on Facebook AND their blog.

This was my second time at DL. I really enjoy hanging out with all the BA's. The worst part was we had E tickets. It took us well over 3 hours in line. Overall we made our trades and had some great guest taps. However I will not be waiting 3 hours again.
    Cheers

I had E as well, but was still way better than C last year. I didn't mind the line at all, it's kind of part of the experience and was expected. I mean, some people showed up at 6am and waited 4 hours plus for their A allotment right? The line is a party in itself, and I drank basically the same variety of stuff in line with other BAs than I would've hanging at the guest taps or sitting at a table bottle sharing. We had scouts checking out the FFF taps so I didn't miss out on 2009 BA Vanilla either.

Great DLD... even me breaking up the potential fight of the Dad trying to throw down on peeps taking pics of his kid barfing in line. Memories forever lol.

But they could have easily put out signs, etc to the location, etc since they had many tappers, etc. Most people are not checking twitter, facebook, etc while at the fest.

I feel a bit like an old crank when I see people complaining about a 2 hour line wait. In my 7 years of going to Dark Lord Day, this was the first that I had been in line for less than 4 hours.

I don't get the line complaining... I had D, kept an eye on The D line while I mingled around the fest and then jumped in at the end of it as it got close to the gate... Took about an hour, big deal... All day they were behind schedule... But there was so much else to do this time...

ya the three hours in group E beat the 6 hours I spent in line in 2010 as people cut and my limit got cut by the time I got to the front. I don't think anyone whose gone to multiple ones has complained, or if they complained they are just the type (probably in a bad relationship, their dad drank, their boss is terrible, and they hate their life).

I was in Group C line... I had a blast. Just standing around sharing beers which is exactly what I was going to do anyway. I guess if you were looking to wander more I can see the anger.

    To each their own.

It would have been nice if they at least were selling beer somewhere along the line...also would have been nice if the group c's that i was with, that we brought beer to in line, would have returned the favor and brought us some beer.

Can we come up with a list of the barrel aged FFF beers that were on tap that day?

    I personally tried:
    • BA Hell's Black
    • BA Moloko
    • Cat Moves
    • 2013 Bourbon Barrel Vanilla Dark Lord
    • 2013 Moscatel Barrel Dark Lord
    I've also seen mentioned:
    • 2009 Bourbon Barrel Dark Lord
    • 2009 Bourbon Barrel Vanilla Dark Lord
    • 2011 Bourbon Barrel Vanilla Dark Lord
    What else was there?

I don't know if you remember, but you also tried some of the '09 Bourbon Vanilla at around 8pm. Jason had a glass. That was right before you started wrestling with some guys in the field...
