I meant to say that my friend was initially pretty pissed because it originally sounded like we were out $37 on an unusable ticket. I think it was more that they created a weird situation when they added the GA ticket option. On the one hand you want those tickets as your last hope of going, on the other hand there were still regular tickets that were going to be sold at the brewpub later, which obviously most people would rather have.

I was just trying to avoid a situation where we had another friend along for the extra ticket and we couldn't get him in dayof.

Good Guy FFF would have sold IP tickets first, and then sold GA tickets immediately afterward.

If that happened, you could always chargeback for Services Not Provided. You wouldn't be completely screwed as far as money goes.

By screwed I meant left at the gate with no way in and no ride home.

I basically told him, do whatever. If I can't get in because they fucked up the ticket I'll see if I can make friends with tailgaters for 6 hrs. or whatever.

They probably had to wait for them to arrive, which would explain why they did IP sales the Saturday after people started receiving tickets in the mail. I assume they place the order for X amount of non-named tickets + all of the online tickets that were bought at the same time. They would most likely have to do 2 separate orders if they wanted the IP tickets in hand before doing the online sale, which could be too costly or just not possible as perhaps they do not do orders for less than 1000 tickets (in person sales).

All of this is speculation of course, but I like siding with optimism instead of just thinking FFF blatantly does things to inconvenience people.

This is the play. Ticketholder goes through the gate first with his Group A ticket and one GA guest. 2nd GA guest has to wait around the parking lot for a half hour or whatever. Ticketholder comes back to the gate and says "hey, there's my buddy. He was running late. I've got his ticket right here." The guy working the gate will most likely not be the same guy who checked ID's in line. Nor would anyone of those guys remember your face out of thousands.

Optimism? What place does that have among this group of assholes

Seriously, though, you're right that logistics dictate timing more than anything else. IP sales have to happen after they receive those nice, custom-printed tickets... unless they just issue plain looking tickets like you'd get from a box office or something and just rent a machine to print them.

The only timing thing that seems awkward (to me) is the whole GA thing. You'd think it would have been announced before everyone started pounding the servers thinking group tickets were the only tickets.

I wouldn't worry about anyone scanning the ticket

The rules. If the guards at the entrance are strictly following them, they state that ticket holder and guest must enter together. Likely, if you go in and come back out to bring someone in, it will be fine. Just dont freak out all over the boards if they decide to run it more strictly than you hope.

It doesnt say they need to enter for the first time together. Just that the named ticket buyer must be there to validate the guest.

They don't follow the rules strictly and didn't last year. The people checking tickets were from a temporary agency, same for the people selling bottles. They could give a shit about the beer or anything else. Slip them a $20 and anything goes.

Thats probably true for just about anywhere. Slip the guy at the front a 20, and your "ticket" could be a piece of paper with a drawing of a unicorn.

They definitely were following the rules last year, at least pertaining to making sure your name was on the ticket. Maybe not all day, but at the beginning they were scanning every single name

Looks like they've flipflopped. New email from runningwaters says:

"I’m emailing to let you know there is a change to the answer that I gave you previously. Three Floyds would like to make an exception to the policy, allowing those who bought a single ticket at the Brewpub and also two General Admission tickets (all in the same name) to use all three tickets."

Well yeah, they don't want to miss out on the additional $$$ the extra GA ticket will bring (and the fact it has no impact on DL bottlle allocations). Seems a no brainer on FFF's part. But will they require the 2 GA's to be there at the same time as the purchaser? Although this situation seems pretty exceptional in the scheme of things. What, maybe 100-200 occurrences of this, max?

Yeah of course. Napa County Stout comes to mind. I have to wonder how the base Dark Lord will take in the red wines etc. although I've never had port BADL.

Yeah, that one is down at work, it's a hybrid cab barrel, French staves, American heads. Jay said that batch of Anastasia is tasting pretty good, although he's still going to let it sit longer. He said it's got a good bit of cab character already, which surprised him a bit.

How metal would three Floyd's be if they start the IP sales at 4:20 on 4-20 on Easter Sunday

Yeah it's a surprise they went from 2 ip ticket sales, to 3 ip ticket sales to this year of just 1 ip ticket sales, but I guess you never know with three floyds. At least I got a BA DL at the last ip ticket sales even if I didn't get a ticket
