Why are more people not beggingToppling Goliath to bring some stuff if he's coming anyway?

Left Mpls at 1:30am Sunday. Arrived at the brewery at 8:30 and waited with everyone else. People from Dayton, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids. My gut told me yesterday would be the day but at about 10:30 they finally put up a sign "WE ARE NOT SELLING DLD TICKETS TODAY". 7 hour drive home sucked w/o tickets but I got some fresh beer at least!

Unless a miracle happens, no DLD for us this year it appears.

Driving home, I started reflecting on the whole craft beer transformation over the last 4-5 years. Too many people chasing beer and tickets. Fighting at festivals, ticket fraud, scalping, inflated pricing, etc... It's almost enough to spoil the whole hobby for a person....definitely makes you think to yourself "why the hell am I still doing this?"

7 hour drive on a rumor at best. Not even a rumor just people guessing. No one knows when ticket sales are going to be. Just because they happened in one way last year doesnt mean the same this year.

I know your position sucks being so far away, and they likely won't announce the ticket sales with much warning at all, but if youre driving 7 hours on hopes and dreams, you at least have to be prepared for the (at least) 50% chance you wont get what you seek.

    Wait...

    You won the GA drawing.

Don't even tell me you were too good for those tickets and chose to drive anyway, hoping to get a Group ticket.

    Holy shit.

No offense... but I think you're taking this craft beer thing way too seriously and that's saying something coming from me.

At least your road trip to Munster, IN was fun. Did you at least get Munster donuts and stop at Edwardos for pizza?

Wait...that can't be right....you won the GA drawing, gave your code away, then drove 14 hours round trip to the brew pub hoping that you'd be able to get Group A tickets? Is this real life? What "miracle" are you waiting for?

I usually think your FFF-related posts are a touch too abrasive but this almost made me spit out my coffee laughing.

Yeah, I'd like to relay that story to Alanis Morissette so she can finally understand the meaning of the word "ironic."

Group A? Group A tickets were sold along with every other group online March 17th. Any group with allocation.

Too good for GA tickets? What does that even mean? The festival is for Dark Lord the beer. If you can't get bottles at some point, why bother? You can only enjoy so many pours during the day.

Bottle share is one thing but you don't need a ticket to do that the night before or even outside the gates in line.

GA tickets are worthless unless you only want to listen to death metal and pay $5-10 for pours all day.

Muster Donuts is closed on Sundays.

Round trip to Chicago is no big deal. We've bought almost all our cars there (better selection) and used to travel to Montreal 1-2 times per year for fun. Driving is relaxing and 7 hours is no big deal. 20 hours is another story....

Regardless, will be back next Sunday to try again.

Cool Floyds dates everything now. Gumballhead I got for a coworker was bottled 3/28 we noticed this morning!

    FTFY.

Also, why would you enter to purchase GA tickets if you didn't value them?

You still didn't acknowledge why you never made it to Edwardos for pizza.

Lets not even get into how much/little your time is worth to you if you're driving 14 hours for these tickets (that didn't exist), but if Dark Lord bottles are all that matter to you, couldn't you save the gas money and buy them from someone else on Craigslist/MBC or something? Just being devil's advocate.
