Don't forget 24oz cans, 32oz cans, 7oz bottles, 8oz bottles, and probably more. Now that Coke is out in a small format can (8-10oz, not sure) who will be the first brewery to to put a high ABV ImpIPA or Stout into one of those?

OBs obsession with all the odd size containers was a contributing factor in my drifting away from their products. I want a Deviant Dales, but it's only in some doofball size? Oh, I'll just grab a 12oz can of something I can stuff in my pocket and stealthily drink while I'm dog walking. Cant do that with a can that sticks out an inch on each side of my hand.

    Correction. Cans do not shatter.

Cans are lined with plastic. Kegs are not. They are also different metals. The cans are lined with plastic that can leach BPA into your beer even if the can is pretty fresh. Dents in the can also help the leaching process.

I prefer a bottle but cans are at least 50% of my purchases.

    Enjoy

Thank you for the edification..... really didn't know about the plastic... that is somewhat disconcerting!

My only complaint with cans is for the beers I like to age, like big stouts. I find they taste metallic after a year or so. Just recently drain poured a couple of Ten Fidy's and a Black Crack cause it tasted we were drinking a can not a beer. Otherwise I have no problem with my fresh beer in cans.

Last night I discovered something that I dislike about cans -- you can't see inside the container to determine if there is a pile of sediment. And cans don't pour as smoothly as bottles at the start of the pour, thus if there is sediment it gets agitated during the pouring process and is mixed into the beer. Last night's can was loaded with sediment, but it's the first time that I've experienced this issue after having bought many beers in cans since they have become popular. I personally don't like to get the sediment into my beer because it usually gives it a chalky off-flavor. So from now on I'll try to gently pour every first can of a 6-pack that I purchase to determine what's in there. Other than that, I love cans.

Ignorant on several counts, including the statement about European beers. Things are changing there too. One example: Delirium in cans.

My only issues with cans is the BPA thing and the environmental impact side of it. I haven't done a ton of research, but from what i've read, cans are probably worse for the environment. Otherwise I don't really have an issue...ok, so I guess I kind of have an issue or two:wink: I do like the zero light struck aspect of cans.

All I can say is that just like old wives' tales, old bottle shop owner's tales are hard to break, Too bad Mythbusters is off the air. I think it is but if it isn't let's get bottles vs. cans on it.

As of today, the environment should be the last thing we need to worry about impacting.

You sound bitter... I guess it must be from drinking all that Odell IPA.

Odell IPA is far from bitter, IMHO. And I'm not bitter at all. Just concerned.
