Do subwoofer vibrations harm beer?

Very random question, I manage a craft beer bar, in which the business underneath has a sort of "night club" on the weekends. It doesn't bother us as we're closed before the late hours, but the bass certainly shakes the floor. If I set out a glass of water, I can see vibrations.

We have most our crafts in can, and quite a variety/stock. We get a lot of beer geeks paying for quality picks. Will these vibrations harm the beer over time? Or make it go flat? Is this something I should somewhat be concerned about?

Sorry if this is a silly question.

Should be great at keeping your hazies nice and turbid. You can even promote by telling haze bros that they needn’t not roll the can when they are ready to open it.

Not a silly question. I have read that the vibration of traveling in a truck or on a train can be a factor in premature staling of the beer. Not gonna do a search, but I assume you have done such a search already OP?

I am not sure how much vibration accelerates the staling of beer, though it seems the least concern. Heat and light are much more of a problem. Wine is supposed to be stored in a vibration free environment, but it may be that the effects take years and not really a problem for beer. I don't know. Interesting topic to study.

I do know that vibration will not make the beer go flat. The CO2 in the beer is stuck inside the can or bottle. The gas has nowhere to go until the container is opened. If in the unlikely event the vibrations force some CO2 out of solution the gas would be in the headspace, and be reabsorbed into the beer soon enough.

    Cheers

Yeah, me, too. I think it was mentioned in some research by Sierra Nevada. Don't see anything specific in Grossman's book (Beyond the Pale) after a quick look about trucking, but there is:

I just can't a day longer. Our problems have gotten too small.

Stop the world, I'm getting off.

    Yeah, what a joke.

A craft beer retailer who cares about the storage conditions of his beer.

Why doesn't he just store it at room temperature, under fluorescent lights (if no windows are nearby) for months at a time, and ignore the date codes like every other beer store?

If it's getting agitated it will accelerate the beer's aging. If it's kept cold though and you're selling through it quickly, it should be negligible. If it's kept at room temperature or warmer though, you could be rapidly aging the beer unintentionally and the difference of 2 weeks or so in those conditions could result in a drastically different beer than when fresh.

Perhaps we can have a levitating bar-room with drawn curtains and optimized air flow...then this customers can really appreciate the nuances of their beers and the emptiness of their existences.

OP, in another post there was a cure for this from another member. He had great success with keeping his beer supply on top of jello. The jello will counter the harsh vibrations and dampen any unwanted effects of the music. I would have your staff run out and make a lot of jello and then go to work setting all geek approved beer in the jello, then your good to go.
Cheers and vibration free drinking. :beers::beers:

"And that children, was how the next great trend in beer started. We moved away from slushies and Hazy IPAs as the next logical step was to make the beer completely solid using jello....

hop degradation is unavoidable regardless, but light and temp are going to affect if way more than agitation. the scalping thing SN talks about in that article is interesting. test was done on a bottle I'm assuming since the article refers to a crown, how does this work or in cans I wonder.

I fully expected this to be a hazebro from New Jersey asking about the cases of Treehouse he just picked up and jammed into his Audi A4 that he kitted out with a JBL speaker system.

Just mount all your racking and cold storage to the ceiling via hemp rope, this will stop the vibration.

Are you allowing folks to actually take the beer home with them, this process will agitate the beer substantially more than “the club” unless Merzbow was playing live there.

    Enjoy
