Most every business cares, but not everyone is good at customer service.

It is good to hear from a brewery that does care. I'm a fan of what you guys do (especially the Enjoy bys). The W00tstout 2.0 was very tasty as well. Thanks for your reply!

I contacted Ale Apothecary and got a response, not the response I wanted but a response none the less. I have contacted Deschutes and got over the top responses, not what I was looking for either but it was very pleasurable experience.
So I have to say I have not had your experience at all.

LOL, how's that myspace account doing? Did you try contacting them using myspace? LOL.

AB-inbev, sab-mc yeah, they can get right on attending to each and every facebook message because they have a huge staff.

I think your first step should have been the email. I'm guessing the breweries give a damn about making good beer, and making a profit, but may not take social media seriously. I know I don't take social media seriously, and if I had an issue I wanted to discuss, I'd go straight to the source first.

Who said anything about MySpace? If breweries have no intention of interacting with people and answering questions, they shouldn't be on social media. It's really simple. It's also not hard to employ someone to look after the social media. You can get a cashier or an office admin to check it once a day and look through it.

You sent a message privately, but you didn't send an email. FB's direct message system is okay, but it's not really good for extended communication the way an email is. I guess I'm not understanding why you have a seeming aversion to communicating via email.

I can't tell you whether or not these breweries "care", but I also don't think you took the best approach to contacting either of them that you could have. At least, not the approach I would have taken.

Nah, I'm just picking on the ephemeral nature of social media. Is it here to stay? No, any number of social media platforms (such as myspace!) disappear. And if you try to contact someone using an old disused social media account, you won't get a response.

FB, BA. Untappd, Twitter, Instagram, RB, Yelp (LOLz!), Twatter, G+, Fark, Reddit, Tumblr, Pinterest, how many of these would be an acceptable number for a business to monitor, in your eyes?

As Stone replied, email is probably best if you definitely want a reply. They get a lot of noise directed their way that only a team of people could possibly reply to all.

To me, twitter/facebook are good for sharing information from breweries about new products, events, etc. I wouldn't expect them to reply to everything said to them.

I sent a tweet to Dogfish with an image of a "Dark & Tan" made with punkin ale and chicory stout and didn't get a response. I didn't get all mad about it.. it is what it is.

All of them, every mention, plus every form of social media that is merely an idea in somebody's head right now. At minimum. Employ more people to respond to social media than brew beer I say!

Then that is gonna require a hell of a lot more effort than somebody checking on it once a day. That is going to require 1-4 full time employees. You want to get in touch with the brewery, call or email. Hell, an actual letter will likely get you a better response than a tweet on Twatter.

It's not so much an aversion to email as it is I've already spent the time trying to reach out to them. If they care, they'll respond. If they don't, that's their choice. I'll speak with my wallet moving forward and buy elsewhere. But it's certainly fair game to point out the lack of response.

Doesn't the Brewery have to open accounts on those platforms for themselves to have a presence? Actually on some of them they don't, but on the mediums that I contacted them on they did or would have. So again, if you don't want to interact or respond, don't open the account! It's simple. Close it or don't open it to begin with.

Yeah, because an image you tweeted to DFH with no reply is definitely the same as me buying an expensive infected bottle from Lost Abbey and not getting a response!

    Dearest Stone,

It is with a heavy heart I pen this missive, for I hath stumbled upon spoilt ale bearing thy name. It was amongst the many aisles of Total Wine in which I found this rare blemish upon ye.

Nestled snugly between Hercules and DirtWolf, I came to find your "Enjoy By" ale well passed it's youth. I'd be remiss to not inform you of this travesty, for it is a glaring boil on your satin skin.

I expect this to be remedied post haste as this mistake not only hurts our relationship, but also our prosperity.

    Yours,
    General Stannis Baratheon

Ha, good one. I didn't care for whatever reason that I did not get a response from them. What I wrote them about wasn't a big deal.

    BRAVO!!!

But, semi-seriously, don't ya think that if a brewery got that letter in the mail, that you would be nicely rewarded for your efforts?
