Despite an unusual 60 degree day today, it is now below freezing in New England. I've been having packages held at my local FedEx and UPS since I work all day. I noticed a few days ago that a bottle I had received as an extra was a chunky suspended protein mess....clearly the work of chill haze. Do you guys stop trading or avoid certain geographic regions during these frigid times?

I have my shipments sent to my office. No frozen beer on my house doorstep AND I get to make co-workers jealous.

My co-workers don't like beer so this method is useless in my case. :flushed:

I check the weather forecast at my box's destination and have it held at Fed Ex if it's going to be especially shitty.

I prefer receiving stuff in the winter, then it doesn't roast on my front porch. This is especially true of brewing supplies and yeast.

    What Steimie said.

Be aware of the weather & don't ship if it's going to be cold coming/going.

My rule of thumb is nothing under 10 degrees, but hey, I'm from Minnesota, so that might be a bit extreme...

I don't stop completely but I'm very careful of cold fronts and definitely slow down. You know New England - it will be 10 degrees for a week and then 45 for the next, so it's all about timing on both ends.

I usually do, but it's based solely on the weather conditions. It was 50 degrees here last weekend for example. Once it gets to be close to freezing I stop. Usually beginning of December to end of February is my break. Plus it's around the holidays and allows me to have some more income.

Yes, I've had way too many frozen bottles. It doesn't take much, your doorstep is irrelevant, its the journey. Example, UPS may send it by train where it can freeze easily.
