I would definitely not disagree with that. In the case of the Two-Hearted, the really remarkable thing was that they "bad" batch was only 5 days old. The better batch was two weeks if I remember correctly. However, isovaleric acid would not go away with age, so this was an instance where one batch truly was produced better than another.

For Untappd different. However, I consider them the same beer, I just like more unique check ins. How do you track beers. A spreadsheet?

I consider them the same, except for the variants like the black IPAs and the new unfiltered one.

yeah man, I am always super skeptical of people saying a beer is "better" or "worse" than the year prior. A lot of my friends say 2015 KBS is worse than 2014. I think mostly because one person thought so and has repeated it enough that my local community just repeats what he says. I think it was fine if anything it might have been more carbonated than usual. So I guess my point is there's some psychological factors too. One of the reasons I stopped using untappd is I would go to check in the beer and I swore by seeing the rating it would affect my enjoyment of the beer. If it was lower than my initial perception I would start to look for flaws and if it was higher I'd try to rationalize something as to why I didn't like it as much.

Great beer, I find them all to be similar, if there a significant difference I can't see it.

I'm of the opinion much of it is psychological. Otherwise, why are there so few threads comparing batch x to batch y of beers available all year long?
