Do you drink the dregs?

Drinking beer with the dregs is like drinking coffee with the grounds added back in.

I vote 2, I've drained poured beers when I accidentally pour in the yeast. Malt protein sediment is ok (and often unavoidable) but it has no taste. The yeast tastes like rust and penicilin.

 

It all depends on the style and the degree of how much there is. Normally yup... I drink it all. Although not always all at once.

 

drink the whole thing include particles.... unless it's Captain's Daughter. THAT sediment goes down the drain for sure for me.

 

Had the "dregs" of a Delerium Tremens Christmas ale on tap and it was most excellent----a 1/4 of the growler a muddled delicious mess.

 

I generally don't drink the dregs because lots of breweries recommend leaving it in the bottle, and all the yeast makes you gassy... interesting to see that I'm in the minority here.

 

Poor it all in, if it's a good beer I'll drink it, if it turns out to be a crap beer it makes for a good excuse to drain pour the last bit.

 

If I'm drinking an Orval, I'm going to do what this guy says.

 

I do the swirl - I like to see some substance in there. I think the actual flavor of dead yeast is negligible at most.

 

For commercial beer I drink the whole thing. For home brew I generally leave the dregs. The first few times I drank home brew I did drink the dregs and actually liked them. The next day all I will say is that I was very regular.

 

Drink it. If you don't llike it, pour it on your houseplants and watch them grow like they were in a jungle.

 

I usually try the dregs mixed in with the last few ounces. I consider it research for my home brewing and if I find dregs that I think I like, then I will try to make a yeast starter.

 

I voted 3. 95% of the time I will drink it all, sometimes depending on the style I find it improves the beer and sometimes I find it doesn't make much of a difference. I have never had it ruin a beer for me though so I don't associate much risk with it, personally.

I will always pour it right in for hefes, belgians, Trappist, etc. IPAs and the like, again depending in the sub-style, will generally make me take a pause before adding it if I decide to do so.

 

I call that little splash leftover "the pinger" and I usually pass on it
