If you want serious advice, if you can't go a couple of days without a beer you might have dependency issues. Not being snarky, that's just what it sounds like.

Brandy 7's, Brandy does wonders but yea not really beer unless it's something lighter like a Saga IPA or something. I also have a Croatian Liqour I drink that does wonders. Man I need to get out to Milwaukee to pick up more or it, Kruscovac is what it's called. It's technically a peach like schnapps but way better, my wife says it tastes like Banana Runts.

If it's a stomach bug, chances are beer will make it worse. If it's a stuffy head, chances are I won't be able to taste the beer. No sense in drinking beer if I won't enjoy it.

I'm also in the camp of people that don't drink when sick. No reason to waste a good beer when I can't fully appreciate it.

Hot Toddy with a bad cold.

Lots of Miller High Life out of the slope shouldered bottle for less than a bad cold (or maybe a huge hop bomb).

    Nothing for gastrointestinal problems.

I do not. What's the point of drinking a good beer if you can't taste it?

I drink beer occasionally when I have a cold, but I also try not to take any medications. Just good ol' vitamins, fruits and veggies for me!

Also, the important thing to keep in mind here is that ALL of us are trained medical professionals and we are 100% qualified to give you advice on how to treat your body under these specific conditions!

I'm definitely getting the best advice from trained medical professionals here! I was just curious as to what other BAs thought. I currently just have a vicious cough. No fever, no stomach issues, no sore throat, no flu, just a really bad cough that keeps me from going to work. I agree, if I couldn't taste the beer I wouldn't bother drinking any. And if I was taking a very serious prescription drug like Vicodan, I definitely would not drink. I took that stuff once and didn't like it. Only took it for a day and then stopped even thought the doctor wanted me to take it for a week. I try to avoid medications also but sometimes you have to take something...

I never drink beer when I'm ill. I can't enjoy it and I'd much rather drink water.

If I do, I usually try to chip away at the beers that are sticking around the bottle shelf

I would tend to agree with this.

I like to test myself from time to time by taking a break from drinking anything. I feel it's good to make sure that I'm drinking beer for enjoyment, not because I have to have one.

Although, sometimes it can be difficult to miss an epic beer tasting because of a minor illness!

Only if I'm able to taste and enjoy the brew. Otherwise there is no point.. you get all the cons (and more) without the pros.

When I'm sick, and dealing w/feeling like shizzle, the last thing on my mind is having a craft brew.

    Cheers
