Do you drink when you're sick?

Suffering from a sore throat at the moment and my brother brings me a growler of Sweet Baby Jesus? Yes; yes I am drinking. Soothes the soul atleast. Cant talk so I might as well drink! Can't say anything dumb!

 

I won't drink if I am on any meds... But if I just have a cold and I am not medicating it (usually I don't) then I will have beer no problem.

 

I tried to have a beer once when I had a cold in late December/early January... it tasted completely wrong (like... I could taste almost nothing but alcohol. And this was a 4%-ish ABV beer which normally has no noticeable alcohol taste to it.)

Maybe it would've gone differently with a different kind of "sick," but after that experience I don't really plan on drinking beer when I have a cold in the future.

Not something new, because I won't be able to taste it all the way especially when my nose is all stuffed. Just drink something familiar like a Torpedo

 

I usually try not to drink much beer when I am actually sick...I mean if I can't taste what I'm having why waste a beer?

I normally go for the warm brandy with honey and lemon as long as I am not taking any meds that have APAP in them.

 

Not really since I can't even taste what I'm drinking. It'll probably make my cold worse anyway.

 

Since it usually means I'm congested and can't smell (or taste much) then no. On a very rare occasion I will, but not often.

 

If the cold has destroyed my taste buds I save my beers for later. if not, the beer may at least help you sleep better.

 

Not typically. I can manage a few days without a beer. I'd rather save it for a day when I feel healthy.

 

If I cannot taste or smell the beer, then like many others, I pass on drinking beer.

If I want beer, I'm not sick. If I don't want beer, then I am. The last time I was sick my brother cracked his only bottle of Apt 12 and I almost violently rejected the 2 ounces I had. It was a truly sad day.

 

No joke, when I used to drink BMCs heavily in college and was sick, I would normally wake up feeling better except for the hangover. Might have to do with the fact that light beer has so much water that I super flushed my system.

Otherwise I wouldn't waste my money drinking good beer with a head or stomach issue.

 

Like some others here, I don't drink while sick if I'm taking medication. Otherwise, I tend to avoid beer, since my senses of smell and taste aren't 100%, and stick to bourbon and whisky (helps to kill the germs ).

 

If I am stuffy or have a sore throat I switch off the beer and do whiskey with hot water and lemon.
