Maybe when I was a younger and I only viewed beer as a a tool to get drunk.

No. No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no! No warm beer!
    Absolutely not!...
Unless I'm finishing a bottle/glass. Then I'll suffer thru (musta been sidetracked). No wasted beer either.

Room temperature is even better than cellar temperature for some brands.

Try a Cooper's Best Extra Stout a little warmer than average and then get back to me.

Room temperature really brings out the flavor in some ales

Sometimes I am warm, once I was a bit chilled, sometimes I am even HOT, and if the friggin beer is cold, it tastes that much better

I also tried it as recommended on the rocks - not really any better though it may have seemed it slightly since we did it on a 100+ degree day.

Nope. If I was that impatient I would wrap the beer in a wet towel and place it in the freezer near the cold air vent, and then drink a glass of water. By the time I was done with the water, the beer would be chilled enough to drink.

Sorry to sound like a stiff, but drinking warm/hot beer in the parking lot of a store just because you want it so bad?
    1. I've never been that desperate to drink a beer - not even as a teenager.
    2. I prefer to drink it out of a glass (although HT wants me to drink theirs out of a can, eh?) - I want to enjoy it, so I can wait to get home.
    3. I wouldn't advocate drinking and then driving (assuming you plan to leave the parking lot - lol), nor having an open container in a car, even if I wasn't the driver.
I'm just not that person. Don't get me wrong, many beers warm nicely (stouts and barleywines spring to mind), and I let them sit out for as much as 20 minutes before I start drinking them, and by the time I'm finished with them, they were probably near room temp - but (never having put a thermometer in my beer to check), I'm still assuming that's cooler than 69 F (at least in any room I'm comfortable in :sunglasses:).

Buy your beer, then go the the nearest bar and grab a cold brew. Even sitting in a car drinking is a bad idea, if it's hot and you have the car on and AC on any cop could pop your for drinking and driving. I know this is tongue in cheek post though, or at least i hope it is..

I've never wanted warm beer badly in my life, the only mental breakdown I had with was in boot camp and Parris Island, now it is HOT in July/Aug and PI is a special kinda shit hole, didn't miss my GF much, but the thought of a beer in an iced mug with the froth running down the side made me crazy, I would have fought and killed for one.

I always pour and let stouts sit for a good 20-30 minutes but they always originate from the fridge

Yes, and for some styles, I even prefer it warm. I only really pay attention to the temp of a beer if I'm tasting it for the first time. I won't drink anything warmer than room temp, though.

When visiting family or friends I often get offered a beer from a bottle stored in a cupboard or even kept on a sideboard. Nothing at all wrong with this and preferable to one from the fridge.

If your beer is hot, it is not being handled properly.

I'm curious about the English beer-drinking culture -- does this room-temp beer matter to you whether it is a pale ale vs. a stout?

On those rare occasions when I pass out drunk enough that I didn't finish my last beer... I will drink the rest of it if I wake up and it's next to me.
