Never, as a teacher who likes their job I wouldn't keep it for more than a day if I showed up after having a drink in the morning.

I drink coffee until noon, and beer after. If I'm feeling lazy and don't start work until after noon, then sure I'll drink before work.

I saw Ben Carson in 7-11 at 6:00 AM a few weeks back. He was wearing a NY Giants Starter jacket and buying a grape 4Loko.

I work at a residential care facility for persons with mental illness. We transport individuals to medical appointments and activities and such, and employees are subject to random drug and alcohol screenings at any time while they are on duty. Not only could I lose my job for stupidity, but I could also be charged with dependent adult abuse were I to report to work impaired. IOW, never.

Before work? No. I log on at 6am before my kid wakes up and do some work and the shuttle him off to daycare.
My 1-2 work from home days each week? I crack a FBS (fall/winter) or low abv fruit/sour/session beer(spring/summer) around 11am- 5 hours into my work day.
I do ops & reporting analysis working in databases and spreadsheets all day. My 1 beer has no impact on my work. If it did I wouldnt have one. More of an early lunch treat than anything.

I did for the first time a few days ago. My buddy had sent me a Parabajava which I found on my porch in a soaked box. The beer had seeped out of the cap and the bottle was a little more than halfway full. I worked in two hours so I threw it in the freezer really quick and drank it. Preferred to get dropped off than drive to work after that.

Beers relax me and I drink them for enjoyment. Having to concentrate and do work would be unpleasant at the least. I'm often amazed that people would want to drink when performing a task.

Fixing up shopping carts and selling them back to the mall is tough work man.

As a commercial truck driver I would never have a drink before work. We get random drug and alcohol testing at work. I have had to blow into a breathalyzer several times. I would not get fired I would just have to declare to my employer that I have a drink problem then I'd be off to rehab but if I do it again within the next two years, I'm fired.

Never. It probably wouldn't pose much of a problem while I'm working in the office, but I do field work from time to time and I'm often around heavy machinery. If you have ever been on a construction site, you know safety is the #1 priority and being buzzed/drunk is not the best idea. I love beer but it can wait.

Can we close this up? I've seen less get closed or deleted. This dudes posts or threads constantly seem less about information being given and more about obtaining. Are you trying to get insight on us? Who do you work for?

To answer the question. Hell no. One needs to be on their toes ready for anything working for someone else. Unless you work for yourself at home. Clients and what not also rely on your professionalism.

Not understanding the relevancy of this post, but thanks.

As a side note, why the hell would you not want pickles on a cheeseburger? The fuck.

    You're right.

I have done it a few times, (I generally work late afternoons and evenings) but I'm not a fan, because I always end up drowsy or have a headache.

A drink around 6am doesn't sound very fun, either.
My girlfriend is a guidance counselor at a high school, and she's out the door by 7. Drinking before work for a teacher/staff sounds terrible.
