Only once, that time my boss's wife had a baby. Those that just got into the office early pretty much had a celebratory Mimosa with him along with Maple Bacon donuts before we started the day. The donuts were so worth it.

Im really surprised at the number of people that are responding to this ,... Are you trying to see who has the flexiblility in thier jobs to drink prior/during, cause it otherwise seems a little irresponsible. @SerialTicker ---- Next post will be "how long do you wait before driving, after drinking......?"

To answer your question though, I indulged this and said Never, but my cousin who works for a brewery/restuarant is allowed a shift drink on his lunch, but its more to have with your meal, and I assume they dont encourage doing it before a shift.

Ah, no, never....unless you call hauling and moving all those rocks out of the riverbed to create that dam over there "work" Then yes I do:slight_smile: before, during and the after testing to make sure the kayaks swoosh through the middle without scraping.

In 2004, I was delivering a bunch of beer to a new account in Fayetteville driving down a piece of I-40 that connects to I-85. As I merged onto the highway, I noticed a tractor trailer hauling ass and dodging through traffic. It was a Saturday morning, the roads were busy, but I couldn't shake this guy. As we came to a juncture where the road went from three lanes to two over a bridge, this guy kept plowing ahead. He was just beside me. I had pulled far to the right. He was flying, couldn't slow down, and rammed a convertible Mercedes just to my left. The car was pinched to the front of the truck, then slid alongside between the side of the truck and the guard rail, sparks flying. The car raised up along the railing and was pitched 50 feet below onto I-85. It landed upside down. Both women died right there. I called the police, described the event, and the driver was convicted of DWI and drug violations. My vocal description was enough for the defense attorney to take the best possible deal. I still have nightmares about that Saturday.

I never drink before work, VERY rarely I will have one with lunch, but at night while working from home I will have 1 or 2. I always liked this graph, but it was very relevant in college while programming.

All these people saying that they won't drink anything within 6-12 hours of work make me wonder if they either have serious metabolism issues or are unable to drink in moderation.

Unless you consider a beer at 1 am before going to bed and waking up and going to work 6 hours later having a beer before work, the answer is never.

He said "start" not "have".... So, he could have 3 beers "started" by 8:59, right?

No. Every once and awhile on a "power" lunch if others are having a drink I will, but that rarely ever happens and it's only 1.

funny u mention this graph, being in the bay area I get a lot of news about silicone valley. apparently taking nano amounts of acid at work make you more productive. it does make sense tho, changing the way your brain thinks can lead to looking at problems a different and more creative way. a nano amount, just enough to get you thinking, much like that graph im sure its very delicate threshold.

OP why limit this to before work?? lol im sure some brewers drink at work

im all honesty it all depends on the work that you do. my work is in an office working for the county. so beer before work doesn't make sense if it effects my performance. however in the rules and regulations it does state I can have 1 beer/cocktail/glass of wine during lunch funny enough.

About once a week I finish a beer at about 10:30 PM and get up the next day for a 6:00 AM shift. I don't think that counts
