Not at the job I have now since I barely can wake up early enough to get anything done, let alone drink a beer. However, when I was in college I delivered pizzas, and depending on what time my shift was I might have had a beer an hour or so before it. It was also somewhat common to be offered beer as a tip (college town), but I pretty much always turned that down.

Technically I'm drinking before work the next day. So it'll be before til the day I retire.

This is like telling your kids not to feed their mogwai after midnight.

Wow - over two years between this thread and the last few posts. Someone must have had a drink and worked really hard this morning to find the thread :stuck_out_tongue:

I typically get into work at 7:30am...... that basically says it all right there.

At my old job, having drinks on the job was almost inevitable between hosting beer events and wine samplings. It took a lot of the fun/reward out of drinking AFTER work. Ironically, working in a brewery now, I drink way less as a whole than working in retail. But taste panels and fermentor tastings are a requirement sometimes

Short answer, never before work, sometimes during (only because it’s in the job description), and cut myself off early on Sunday nights

I work 2 different jobs. One's with the state and one's with a brewery. The one that is with the state = no. The one at the brewery = I sample beer during my shift.

I was in the beer and wine business for many years, and the reps that actually drank while working never lasted long at the job.

I have been working in the beer business for many years now, and I don't think I've ever met a rep that doesn't drink while working. It is accepted and assumed that reps will frequently have a beer during lunch or dinner, or while waiting on a buyer, or during an event or promo. It is a means of supporting the account and depletions of your product. These are allowable purchases on company cards too. That said, there is a fine line between having a couple pints and getting sloppy. Those that can't control themselves do get weeded out pretty quickly.

Fortunately I wasn’t a rep! But mannnny of the ones I interacted with definitely loved to get a little buzzed (or sloshed) during certain events or tastings of their brand/distributor, like @ryan1788a5 said. Their job is very much based off of social skills and charm. I’d be surprised if most of them didn’t enjoy at least a few samples on the job.

No. That would mean getting up early. I have to be at work 7:30 most days. I absolutely won't take any chance (4%& DE-licious![IMG]) while driving , even if it is under the limit.:sunglasses:

I work in an office type gig. Into work for 0630. Don't drink before work.

    BUT

On Fridays - after noon, we're allowed to drink AT work - provided it doesn't become a problem. So I not really before but at work for me.

Once and only once. I was having a massive panic attack , I suffer from PTSD, and I couldn't break it, so I had a martini before a closing shift at work , never in the morning even when I was young and stupid.
