$10 max for a bottle frequently available
$15 max for a bottle that is rare or highly desired
$20 max for a bottle that is on the top 250 beers just to try it once

Yea not long ago I had a limit of about 9 bucks. Now it depends on cash on hand versus how bad I want it.
Still my fixed income means I try to stay in the 12 and down range. I can live with it. TBH I not bought a bomber in years. I bought my last 750 about 9 months ago. Was Dupont saison for about 8 bucks, just FYI.

25$ seems to be my limit.

It seems $19.99 for me. Finally found a bottle of Love Child #3, and walked away from it at that price, instead buying 4 packs of Curmudgeon, and Bigfoot for same price.

I rarely buy bombers, but if I do, it's typically $8 or so. If there is something that I really want and have been hoping to try, I could see spending $15-$20 (although $20 for a bottle of beer is really pushing it for me). Anything more than that and I'll pass. Case in point, I saw various bottles of Eclipse. It sounded interesting when I read the label, then I saw that it was $28. I promptly put it down and grabbed a bomber of Stone Espresso IRS, a sixer of torpedo and a four pack of Jack's Abby Jabby Brau for the same price.

I like $8-10 if I'm just wandering the aisle and pick something new for the weekend. Currently my wallet only allows me to go up to the ~$16-17 range for anything more exotic.

Even that's too much for me most of the time. $6 for a bomber is $18 for less than a full six pack. My favorite beers are all less than that, so it just doesn't make any sense for me to buy a bomber 99% of the time. There are extremely rare exceptions, but I generally don't even look at the bomber selection at any store I'm in. Then again, I'm also in the lowest non-poverty income bracket, so I'm extremely tight with my money on non-essentials.

Unfortunately for my wallet, I don't have any discipline if it is something I have never had before. Shhhhh. Don't tel the Mrs......

It's a sliding scale. Depends on the brewer for me. If its one of these greedy egoistic companies, my desire for their product becomes indifferent. And as so, the limit drops.. usually by around half of the amount they are asking.

I don't see spending $10 on a not-so-great bottle of beer a waste if having to go through them means I will eventually find a gem. I think having the mentality of being afraid of getting a not-so-great bottle letting it stop you from trying is backwards. Beer is like women in that regard. Sure you'll get your heart broken a few times in the beginning, but you'll never find your true love until you get out and put you heart, or wallet, on the line.

I try everything I can. Most new stuff these days only comes in 22oz format. Of course I'm not going to waste money on something twice if I don't think it's worth it. Hell, I hardly even buy stuff I like twice because I'm too busy looking for something new. The only repeats in my fridge are the sessions and the greats.

6 bucks, that's where I draw the line. That being said, I don't drink a lot of bombers....

For the most part there seems to be 2 groups here. One that doesn't care about cost and is willing to spend a quick buck to try a new beer and on the other side a group that is tight with their money and doesn't go out of their way to try new beers. (Un)fortunately I am in the former group. I DO have a limit but if there is something I HAVE to have, I'd spend $25 on a bottle. I don't get the $6 (^^) thing. I mean seriously, I might be able to choose from like 3 bombers if that were my limit. Then again, I don't get why they are priced so high considering it isn't even the equivalent of 2 12 oz bottles. That's a debate for another day.

10$. Anything more is just ridiculous. Although i must confess I have occasionally dabbled in the ridiculous.

On a regular bomber $45...Sours aren't cheap. On specialty bomber like Utopias, which I almost bought until they #%$@ed the 10th anniveresy bottle. It suppose to be copper dammit. $200. I would've been satisfied with an oxidized copper decanter.

The most I paid was $42.00 for a bottle of 'Rare' when it first came out. But anything else maybe $20.00 for a bomber depending. Average is $15.00 but anything under $10 would be ideal!

    Cheers!

No limit the first time but when I consider if I am going to buy it or trade for it again the cost to amazing ratio definitely comes into play. When I take into account the amount of beer I drain pour my goal is to continue to narrow the field so that a higher percentage of beer that I sample is something I really like. Some examples below.

Dark Island Reserve $40 for 750 (will buy again for sure)
50/50 Eclipse $30 (would buy other variants but probably would not re-buy the ones I have had)
Weasel Calvados $11 for 8.5 oz (will buy again for sure)
Nebraska Black Betty $27 for 750 (would buy again for sure)
Papier-Cotton-Cuir-Fruet $27? for 750 (glad I tried it but would not pay that again)

I don't usually buy 22oz bombers, but when I have, I've never spent more than $8. I do buy 750's more frequently, but wouldn't spend more than $15 on one of those. There's some damn good stuff in the $10-$15 range that I'm happy with, and a pretty wide variety too.
