Tap is better for styles that are better if you drink them fresh, but bottles are better for styles that you can cellar. I recently tried an english strong ale on tap and it was ok, I bought a bottle that I opened three months later and it was awesome.

Nitro is for beers with little to no flavour, so instead you get a smooth, if somewhat unnatural mouthfeel. See John Smiths, Tetley's etc.

Sorry, you have to say "it depends". Some beers don't "happen" until they are bottle conditioned. Some are better on draft (hoppy beers, for instance).
So, for beers that are traditionally bottle-conditioned, I choose bottles. For everything else, draft.

Tetley's on handpull is quite an enjoyable pint , it's been the house beer in one of our pubs for some time now.

Bottle/can. As mentioned I also like having the option to enjoy my beer anywhere not just at the bar. I also enjoy the beer better at home because I can give it my full attention. At a bar there is usually too much going on the really pick up on the subtle flavors. Oh yeah it's cheaper too.

I'm thinking more of the Tetley's "Smooth Flow" and widget cans.

On-tap at the right places such as brewpubs, beer bars and many local restaurants that cater to good beer. Generic chain restaurants? Not so much.

On tap is always preferable if possible. Bottles and cans make enjoying good beer on the boat much easier though.
