I name all my beers because it's fun, but I also keg so no labels are ever done.

That said, some of my names are more clever than others (many, of course, are not clever at all). The naming of beers after terrible brewing mishaps or unplanned flavor characteristics is also something I do, and I think it should be heavily promoted as a homebrewer policy. Of course, if I were to implement it, I would end up with a lot of stuff like, Well It Beats Being Sober IPA.

As a medical geek I named my first batch Gentle Diuresis.

Name them all (particularly for tracking on untappd), but don't really label. I just wax dip or use wine bottle seals to color code the ones I bottle. Keg the rest and write the name on the chalkboard so I know what is what (7 keg keezer setup).

I just mark the cap with a letter or two depending on the brew

all of my creativity is used up in the actual brewing. nothing left for clever names I suppose.

everything is kegged and nothing is named. I don't think I have named a beer ever in 20 odd years of brewing. I know what is on the faucet, I made it. no need to name it.

this is only a problem when someone asks "what is it called?" the answer is some variant of color/style.
    Cheers.

Naming beers and making labels and/or tap handle inserts is half the fun for me. The rationale for a beer's name is all over the map although lately I've taken to keeping track of interesting phrases that would make good names. A friend of mine recently said he refers to Game of Thrones as Tits & Dragons, which is now the name of my Black Metal clone.

Duck tape on the outside of my keg with the style. For bottles I mark the cap with abbreviations and year made. Such as RIS 14 or BW 13. I am far too lazy to be taking different labels off every batch.

I drink my homebrews wayy too quickly to be spending the time labeling them, even though I am a graphic designer and do package design  It's just one more step in the process that I find unnecessary.

If I were to ever do a specialty brew like a big braggot or barrel aged barleywine I might consider it. That, or if I gave a case away as a gift for a wedding, event, etc.

I spend a little less time in this department. I use bulk gold caps for all my brews and a sharpie. I keep it simple a 2 or 3 letter code I keep in my brew log. For example, I will write on the cap CS= Chocolate Stout, BD= Bavarian Dunkel, CPA= Cascade Pale Ale, etc.

It's a pretty simple sytems, but works for me. I have in the past had some nice brown label tags with brown string made up. They definitely looked nice, but I'm a plain Jane guy. I'm just really interested in what's inside the bottle!

I like to make labels because I give a lot away and I think it just makes a better gift. It looks like you put more time and effort into it (especially for those who don't know what kind of time and effort goes into brewing beer). Also, it's easier to refer to the names later and have people know what you're talking about. If you've made multiple IPAs, for example, you can say the name instead of "you know, the IPA two IPAs ago."

I do name them all but since I mostly keg I just write the name on the dry erase tap handle. Last IPA I made came in at 7.8%. I named it "Doug's Loudmouth Soup" in honor of one of my neighbors who's always in ere'bodies bidness.

Last beer I bottled was a stout and I just wrote "H.S.I.C" on the caps for "Head Stout In Charge."

@jbakajust1 I really dig your labels!
