Ahhh I remember it like it was yesterday. I had been drinking Newcastle for a few months then one morning I had to have minor foot surgery and a buddy stopped by afterwards to hang out. We headed down the street to the distributor and picked up a Weyerbacher Big Beers variety pack (Double Simcoe, Merry Monks, Old Heathen, and Blithering Idiot). Ended up drinking the afternoon away and watching hours of Battlestar Galactica. Good times...

Freshman year of college, my friend invited me to a poker game and said I had to get some kind of "good" beer, and having no idea about what he meant, I gave him ten bucks and told him to pick something out for me. Dude got me a sixer of hopdevil and I have loved craft beer ever since. I have had almost 500 beers now, including most of the top 10, and some (few but some) whales, and hopdevil is still my favourite.

I got into it because of a buddy of mine. I was hesitant to give up my Bud Light, but I am glad that I did.

Years ago when I was an ignorant and irresponsible drinker I would search down the draft list for the highest abv. This led me to Weyerbacher and Stone at first. Taste was different and it eventually grew on me and I was hooked.

When I lived in Tampa just hearing about and seeing Cigar City got me interested in it. Once I turned 21 a year and a half ago I started going to World of Beer and the CCB tasting room and from there it blossomed.

In college started with Guinness. Sierra Nevada pale and the original blue moon. Hearing the legend of Pliny got me into trading which is now an addiction

Originally it was Sheaf Stout from a bottle store in San Francisco back in '99. But then DFH 90 Minute & World Wide Stout, Arrogant Bastard and Dead Guy Ale all changed me forever.
