I got my bottle in a trade as well, 3 month old one in 2007. As I said earlier, I loved it.

Looks like there was also a HP Pils that I enjoyed much more. Go figure.

Gotta wonder if they've found it for sale or been sitting on it this long?

Yeah, I looked that up, but is the implication that the beers used 80 kilos of hops in each batch?

I took it to mean they used whole flower hops, not pellets. I guess they could have called it "Hop Sack" but people might have confused it with the fabric used for a sports coat or maybe the cook on Bonanza.

(All I know is, I've got the frozen toaster-oven sandwich commercial song as an ear worm, now...)

I first went to Great Lakes Brewing Company around 1989/1990. I don’t know when I had it, but Commodore Perry was probably the first IPA I had.
I do distinctly remember the first time I had Stone Ruination, and I was blown away. Ithica’s Flower Power was an early influence as well.
I guess it’s sad that both (Ruination and Flower Power), of those beers are not what they once were.

My first was Pliny the Elder... and I hated it at first haha. Back when I was still trying to like beer.

I'll sadly never know the name of my first. All I know is that it was 2007 in Bellingham, WA in a gastropub that did it's own thang. I had never had an IPA (obv) and this one kicked my ass. I refused to hate it, however, and ordered it two more times within the hour, determined to understand what was happening (as a Midland TX boy who only really had Shiners and Fredericksburg TX brews or the occasional craft Stout I could find). I wound up slightly drunk and 10 minutes late to my tattoo appt which I had been biding my time in the pub waiting for.

honestly, I've just been chasing that high ever since

    Oh yes I do.
And I do remember that it was a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, that I, green behind the ears thought was a “kind of” an IPA... (still my favorite brew though)

I don’t remember my first IPA but I do remember that “Pieces of Eight” from Foley Brothers was the one that started me down this journey of being a Craft Beer Enthusiast (aka alcoholism as a hobby).
