Do you update your Wants/Gots?

No. Can't see that it maters, would love to hear feedback on wether or not keeping it up to date is productive.

 

Yah. But only as I acquire ticks or identify future ticks.

 

I try to but really only update every few months. I also only add what is cellared and not every 2 dollar beer in the fridge.

 

Well if you trade people will sometimes toss you random trade offer for something you have marked FT. If you don't then probably not useful.

I keep the 'wants' mostly up to date, but the 'gots'...not so much, because I drink 'em

 

I keep both up-to-date. After setting up a trade I often check the other BA's wants and base the extras I throw in on their list.

Yes. "Gots" is updated to the minute. "Wants" whenever I discover something I.. want..

The gots list is handy because it remembers the date added. You can look back to see how long something has been in your cellar unless you have multiples added at different dates.

My gots indicate only that I had one or more full (not a sample) servings since Christmas 2014.

 

Not at all new to BA, but very new to trading, and from reading posts it seems like a large number of people include "extras" or expect extras as part of any trade. Anyone willing to explain to me what the norm is?

 

I've gone years without even looking at either. If I have something I really want another of, I might add that.

I constantly add to my Wants, and generally remove a beer once I've acquired it. I've never understood what the Gots list is supposed to be for, though.

 

I like the premise of the system; to peruse potential trade partners. However, I'm not a huge trader and its a lot of work to keep updated. So easy to add to the 'wants' list. I've seen so many profiles like:

Wants-Bourbon Vanilla Dark Lord, KBBS, Heady Topper, etc
Gots-Sam Adams Summer, Stone IPA, etc.

I'm guilty of it myself, but try to delete things periodically.

 

I thought the "gots" refered to beer I had got, and consumed. Reading this thread, I now know that is not the case. I have some list maintenance to do... and I feel silly!! Live and learn!
