Do you update your Wants/Gots?

I basically use the Wants/Gots as my own personal inventory, this way when I go to a store or brewery outside of my distribution area I can easily see what I have or if there is anyone I marked as looking for.

 

I update Wants on occasion, my Gots are not up for trade so if I kept them updated it would appear like bragging.

 

My Wants are up-to-date and used mainly for trading purposes. My Gots are empty because I find it exhausting keeping up with it. If you're a trader, I think you should keep your Wants relatively updated. It helps your trade partners with figuring out potential expansion to the trade and extras.

 

Keeping Wants updated is pretty much mandatory for those of us that do BIFs or other types of blind trades. I don't intend on using Gots because I know itd get out of sync really quickly

 

Agreed with wants being essential for people active in the BIF community. I only put up gots that I'm interested in receiving unsolicited trade offers for, which happens fairly often and can be comical.

 

I do. It's the whole reason I joined BA. I want to know what I've had my eye on when I'm at the store.

I only use the Wants...that for my reference, if I read about something I think I'd like, I check it, and use it for future reference for trading or on-line shopping. I wish it held more.

And I never use wants

 

People use it to keep track of their cellar for the most part. It has the date added so you know how long you have had it if you keep it up to date.

 

I most definitely keep it updated. Once in awhile I forget to edit what is FT or not but its another tool to seek out beers you want or trade some you have.

 

Wants, yes. Gots, too difficult to keep up with.

 

I don't know when I last updated mine. I need to just clear them out or something to avoid people messaging me about them

 

Keeping gots updated can be extremely annoying when trading.
Usually the conversation goes something like "i see you have x in your gots, would you be willing to expand"
I say no and never hear another word.

 

I've completed a few trades strictly because I've had my gots up to date--didn't even post a trade offer but worked things out via BM for the beer in question. Sometimes it can be annoying to get messages about beers I have for trade, but its been pretty good to me so far.

I keep my wants pretty up-to-date. I deleted all my gots a while ago and just keep a cellar inventory on Google Docs (which is still not as accurate as I'd like).

We all have beers we want to drink and beers we want to trade. When I had everything listed people always just went for my rarest bottles despite what I was asking/offering.

 

I try to keep my Wants updated. If I see something that sounds interesting I just look it up and add it. There are too many beers out there to remember the name of... "what was the name of that beer again? Oh crap! Forget it!"
