Do you work with another BA?

Reporting this to Todd. You're just using this thread to pimp your event.

 

I work with a handful of people who are interested in craft, but they're just getting into it. Not geeks by any means. They typically come into my office and tell me what "crazy beer" they had over the weekend ( just means they had something like Old Chubb) asking me if it's supposed to be good. I always just say "how'd it taste to you? That's all that matters." And occasionally I give them recommendations based on what they recently liked.

One of these guys sometimes goes home to Maine, and will go to the Lion's Pride (local beer bar up there) and take a picture of the menu for me every time. He doesn't know 85% of the beers on there but will come in on Monday and show me the picture just to see my reaction to it. So I'll say something like, "They had Pannepot on tap!?!?" And he says "....is that good?" I'm in the middle of exposing him to other stouts beyond Guinness.

 

I have the good fortune of working with four other BA members, three of whom are active traders and geekier than me. We have regular beer tastings after work and I get to try rare stuff that you can't buy here, plus all kinds of stuff we have access to because I live in the mecca of craft beer (SoCal). Don't you wish you were me? I know I do.

 

I do not... Surprising since I'm a chemist and QUITE a few people here homebrew and drink nothing but craft beer.

 

Have only one serious one here at work other than me but he only uses BA for reviews. Have a few up and coming prospects one of which is my own boss. She has slowly been trying different coffee stouts/porters I bring her to figure out what she enjoys most.

 

No BA's at work but lots of folks who like good beer (I'm a musician and teach at a music school). We have a monthly gig at Matt Torrey's in Brooklyn and a lot of my coworkers show up and drink Flower Power on tap and other good stuff. We just had a fundraiser and Lagunitas donated some cases of IPA. Looked at a bulletin board yesterday and noticed things were held up by Lagunitas bottle-cap magnets!

PS We are in Manhattan, wonder how they got Lagunitas to donate over here...

Thankfully, yes.......I'm fortunate to work in the Bay Area, and I work daily with people in the Portland area. Hence, beer conversations are frequent. I know of 1 other active BA user for certain. I try to snag Oregon brews when I travel to the Portland area, which of course isn't too hard to do.
