I haven't had it influence mine, but Short's ERMAGERDNESS has me wanting to give a 5 right now.

No the label has no effect on my ratings of the sensory qualities of the beer or my overall score, and I can say that confidently because I don't buy beer on the basis of labels in the first place.

After living much of my beer drinking life in PA, where most all the beer, until relatively recently, was sold on tap or a case at a time I couldn't see the labels, and I learned to do some advance homework before buying the beer. Thats where reading the reviews of a beer online becomes invaluable and for my money this site offers the best review database going. Especially when I can't find the beer on tap in a bar where I know and trust the judgment of the person who manages the beer and knows what they are doing.

I'm basically cheap and want to know I'm getting value for my money. If you buy a single bottle of a beer its going to cost only a few bucks. If you buy a case of beer you don't like, that's an expensive mistake.

Those habits have carried forward even now when we do have a few bottle shop/eateries where one can buy a single bottle. Labels are not what I look at or care about.

No. When I review a beer, I'm reviewing the beer, not the bottle.

No, and the Bros.' guidelines specifically state that one must be reviewing the appearance of the beer itself, not the packaging.

Not that I'm not personally influenced by the appearance of packaging, of course. However, it does not - and by this site's definition, shall not - influence my rating of the beer's appearance attribute.

Edit: I'm looking for the source so that I can back up my claim. I'll link it once I find it, but I know I've read that on this site before.

I review the beer in a glass, not the container it comes in.

No it does not for me. In the same way I don't consider the taste and smell of the bottle/can.

Marketing and packaging certainly has a direct and sometimes indirect effect on whether I purchase it or not though.

Labels definitely affect my decision to buy a beer or not, but never my rating of it.

No. I'm not drinking the package. But if the package merits its own attention as an aside. I will mention what I like about it, as I did with my review of Off Colors 15 feet.
The visual identity, and that consistency for a brewery is, for want or not. Hugely important.

No! the label doesn't dictate the outcome of my rating while rating beers. Though I enjoy seeing some funny labels!

Being a graphic designer, design geek, and beer label designer, I love beer labels probably more than the next guy. Still, it has never occurred to me to include it in my appraisal of a beer's appearance.

Once yes. Don't remember the beer, but the lable art always stuck in my mind. Only gave it an additional .25 for it.

While I appreciate a nice label, it has absolutely NO bearing on my rating. There are plenty of breweries with nice artwork that lack in overall quality. Conversely, the same can be said about breweries with "blah" packaging that know how to deliver the goods.
