Kegs bear no labels...& my growler label (Untapped PDX) reminds me how much better I enjoy fresh beer from fine taprooms.

It doesnt' influence my 'score' for the beer itself. But, I do love some label art and I can appreciate the art.

I have never considered the bottle art in any part of my ratings...I cant recall even commenting on it...to each hi/her own

As if I could seriously rate Against the Grain's "The Brown Note" based on the label art...

A label may catch my eye in the store to give it a second look ....but has nothing to do with my review of the beer its self.

never, it has nothing to do with the actual beer

you could give me a tin can with Ruination in it and i wouldn't care. as long as it tastes good

Anyone who votes "yes" on this poll should immediately have their reviews removed.

No, any more than the color of a jockey's silks affects my bet in a horse race.

I don't, but I am not as outraged by it as some of the previous posters. In general, I find the entire category of 'appearance' superfluous and tend to give pretty much every beer the same appearance-score as my overall. I don't put much weight into the look of a beer, nor do I put much weight on the label. So in that sense they are sort-of the same to me. The only difference being that one is a required part of any review, and the other is apparently heresy.

The label on a beer is like the cover on a book.... Something to not judge the contents by.

Now I do appreciate a good label and a good cover though.

Maybe sometimes it should, something like Trillium where the label is professional, understated and unified across the line. Speaks to what went into the bottle.

It's an interesting question from the OP

Had some great brew with bland labels and vice versa. The label is an eye catcher----little more....brewery and ingredients are more important.

I won't lie, I've bought a few beers in part because of packaging. But no, the only place I'd consider the score would be in the overall true up if I felt that being canned for example would up the score or I might lower it if they used some crazy expensive looking stuff and it increased the cost. BTW anything not canned SHOULD get a lower score but we don't have environment impact listed :/ Nor propper container used...

Labels are often jobbed out to outside designers , the most incompetent brewery 's products can sport the most professional artwork.
Back to the OP, I rarely drink bottled or canned beer , the only artwork I see is on the pump clip and in no way would it be a factor in any review.
