That was supposed to be opening in Downtown Houston? I heard there was one going in on Main street then haven't heard anything since.

If you're referring to the second Freetail location that was scrapped almost a year ago due to money issues and current restrictive laws.

Yep, Freetail pulled out because of money issues. I really wish they would have been able to open in Houston. Though if they put their energy into having more bottles available, and continue to do what they do at the brewpub in San Antonio, I think that will work better for them. In the end, I just want them to be able to make money and continue to produce a good product. It was a really ambitious program, and I hope they don't scrap it for the future if the opportunity came along, but I think they made the right choice for their operation at this time.

I actually worked on the Freetail Houston campaign and we hosted their support party at Café Luz. Bummed that the project didn't pan out, but it did inspire me to look into opening a brewpub on a different scale in downtown. We are converting the bakery of Kitchen Incubator to the brewery and will be 'incubating' a rotating selection of ten member brewers at a time sold through the Café Luz storefront. This will hopefully provide a financially logical way for people to launch brewpub type concepts until the legal landscape in Texas changes. Equipment is in, licensing pending. We're planning a big launch party for the weekend of August 3-5 and expect to open in October.

We are still currently seeking brewers. Details at http://www.facebook.com/ProjectBrew
