Revisiting some older school school Lagunitis IPAs on tap kind of reset my palate. I loved Born Yesterday and Hop Stoopid, no tricks, just really great beers.

Just echoing this. Just a really fresh, unique IPA.

I haven't checked out a good beer store in a month or so, but, I did grab some New Belgium Brut IPA today, at the market. Darwin's BR's did a video on Brut recently. The first one, I thought was lemony, and low in carbonation, and a bit slick. The interesting thing to me, is, how much 'the pour' affected the overall feel. First one, I poured straight. The second bottle I poured much more slowly at an angle; smaller head, and lots more carb on the tongue...and it was much more dry on the finish. The wine aspect was more prominent, too. Still, I didn't think this one was something I'd go back to.

I wonder if it would work on cask. I'm guessing not, but I'd love to try some.

Sixpoint’s sparkler is fantastic! The best one I’ve had, yet.

I think it is a fad like many IPA variants. I hated the only one I've had, and that was from a place that makes normal IPAs that I like a lot. You would have to love the hop flavor profile in a Brut IPA, because that is all that they provide. The rounding aspect of malt has a place.

    A fad, I hope
Not wild about these...a fad, I hope...stick to the REAL IPA's like Barley Brown's (Baker City, Oregon) "Pallet Jack" or their "Forklift" IPA's...this is REAL beer.

I had one at a tap takeover by Aslin a couple months back, but it didn’t really mark me as anything distinct, but it was also flavored with raspberry and some other fruits, which have it more of an IPA-Franbroise hybrid.

More marketing than brewing. The entire industry has become absurd with the IPA stuff. First it was “double” “triple” “quadruple”. Then when that was played out add “imperial” to the name. Then...dry hop once, twice, thrice!
Out of fresh ideas? Just India Pale anything ...India Pale Lager, etc.

Now, just when you thought the shark has been jumped, just add Champaign and wine names to IPA. Presto! New beer!
    What’s next? India Pale Rosé?

I’ve tried 8 or 10 bruts recently (yep, *everybody* is trying their hand at this style). Like many here, I found them to be ok-to-pretty-good. I’d wager good money that brut IPAs will go the way of black IPAs (which I was sad to see happen— thought that style had real potential).

Had a handful of them and am pretty much done with the style. Something is lacking .seems like a drop-off in hop notes at the finish. If that's what's intended, I get it but it doesn't work for me.

I have had a few Bruts - I honestly just couldn't really say it stood out to me. It felt like more of a gimmick than anything else.

I just recently tried 4Hands take on a Brut IPA and I found it to be pretty delicious here’s the notes I took in it.

    4Hands Brut
L: Champagne yellow opaque egg white foam 2 fingers
S: Citrus pineapple orange mango pear apple. Light earthy notes.
T: Mimosa. Champagne. Citrus. Refreshing. Crisp.
F: Smooth. Coats the mouth. Fuzzy. Lightly carbonated.

I've tried very few, but I think COOP ID #5 was quite good .

I think I’m as interested in hearing the bad ones as the good ones. Locally in Austin, there was a really nice collab brut pale ale at Banger’s that was amazing but temporary. I’ve had a few bottled that have all been decent. Happen to be drinking the New Belgium Brut now (not my favorite brewery, but bought a single bottle and it’s kinda hitting the spot). I love the style. Hope it sticks.

Its funny to me to see so many people saying 'I've tried 3 or 4 of these and they sucked, I'm over this style', my experience is that it's a style that is not at all easy to do right, the hop selection and rates have to be spot on and I'd imagine that some combination of malt bill, fermentation temp/time, and use of enzymes make or break the mouthfeel desired. But when done right it is a super refreshing offering for us hop addicts. To me, the good ones are like the flavor profile that session IPAs seemed to be going for (although few if any achieved it in my mind) without sacrificing that ABV. We'll see if the style matures into anything but I don't really see why it would go away, I just think breweries that can't figure it out will stay away
