Hey, was wondering how many people use a converted chest freezer to cellar their beers. And if you do what kind of racking system do you use inside to maximize the space. I been looking at some freezers and I notice there would be a lot of vertical wasted space if I were to just line the bottom with bottles. Any suggestions. Pictures would be appreciate.

I had friends in college who converted one to a kegerator, and it worked out really well. I've also seen one filled with beers that were in metal racked set up diagonally. They were easily removable to get to beers on the bottom, which fixes your concern about wasted vertical space.

I don't have any pics at work but I took my freezer and bought a Johnson controller for the temp and I bought a cheap wire storage rack from target and just placed it in there. The dimensions were damn near perfect and I can have two levels of 750ml bottles.

I did the exact same thing but ordered a wire rack from a computer supply place online and then cut the posts down to fit; allows airflow between levels.

This is a screenshot of the wooden frame that I made to fit in my chest freezer. Only the side view shows the plywood shelves and it doesn't show the sides and handles I put on the main shelf when I was building it. It works but I definitely made some mistakes. There is room for air to flow but I need to raise the shelf sides which will restrict air flow and require me to drill holes in the shelves.
