I'm just curious if I'm alone on this. I'm at the point where I pretty much only drink IPAs or DIPAs. If something else is offered to me, I'll try it, and every once in a while I'll give a regular old pale ale a try if I've heard good things about it, but I'm definitely to the point where I only seek out IPAs. Believe me, I wish I enjoyed other styles, as it would broaden my options exponentially, but it seems whenever I drink something other than an IPA anymore I'm just left wishing I was drinking an IPA.

You may very well be close to alone on this. I'm heavy on IPAs, but I still crave diversity and will probably drink at least 25% that are non-IPA styles.

I definitely favor stouts and tend to stick to stouts, I do like other stuff too. I love IPAs and Barley wine. When I grab drinks with my friends, it is hard to find a stout other than Guiness, and I hate that stuff. So, in those situations, I usually grab an IPA. When I go to bars that are special beers in stock, I will 99% of the time grab a stout. Unless it is middle of the summer and 90+ out. Then I may adjust to the climate.

Remember, 90% of beer sales in the USA are for non-craft varieties. There are plenty of people in this country who don't leave the pale lager realm, drinking some mixture of Bud Light, Coors Light, Budweiser, Corona, Heineken, and Stella Artois.

I tend to mix it up a good bit, both because I like trying new beers in different styles and also because if I drink too many IPA/DIPAs too many days in a row I get palate fatigue and start missing out on some of the flavors they have to offer.

Back before I got into craft beer I only drank PBR, but since then I've expanded to other styles. The one you love is one I really don't care for a lot, but hey if it's what you like.

Mostly IPAs/IIPAs for me, but certainly not limiting myself to one category (currently enjoying a barleywine...finally!). There are people outside of the forums that ONLY drink adjunct lagers so I don't think it'd be too crazy to find people on here that only drink stouts, IPAs, etc.

Right now I seem to be equally split between IPAs/IIPAs and stouts. Key wording being, "Right now". I allow myself room to change my tastes as time goes on (OP, not suggesting you aren't doing this). And, of course, I like a little variety as well. If I were to only stick to these two styles, I'd never know if I might like something else.

Not me, but I currently crave IPAs and DIPAs more than any other style...

I like many styles, I do sympathize with getting into a rut though.

I go through seasons, but I drink all kinds of stuff regularly: saisons, wild ales, lambics, ipas, pas, porters, stouts, barleywines, pilsners, kolschs, belgian whites, heffeweizens... today I'm craving a belgian trippel for some reason, or a kriek. Something sweet-sour, bright.

The only styles I generally don't care much for are dubbels, bocks, english lagers, ESBs, bitters, red ales, brown ales, with some exceptions.

I generally find myself sticking to stouts - so if you are talking about sticking to one, overarching style/category, then yes, "stouts." But within "stouts" I like to mix it up - milk stouts, RIS, American Double/Imperial, oatmeal stouts... anything does the trick for me really, so long as it is a stout.

You are not alone! I will branch out and try other stuff but the Pale/IPA/DIPA is my one and only love. Not averse to trying other stuff, but am averse to spending my money on stuff I don't love.

    Nope.
Granted, I tend to gravitate toward IPA's, PA's, and DIPA's, for everyday beers (or should I say every day):grinning:. But, I am all over barleywines/Impy stouts with frequency (every few weeks or so). And I dabble with many other styles.

Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. If I'm tight on money at the time, I'll usually always revert to a style I know I'll enjoy.

Are you crazy? There are so many awesome styles. It's far easier to go through the few styles that I don't like and even those (Hefe, Sours), I have had good beers.

Don't limit yourself. Keep trying different styles. Life is too short...

I love stouts and porters and other darker styles, but I find that if I have too much dark stuff I really get a craving for a pilsner or a heffe or a pale ale. On the other hand, especially in summer, when there are tons of lighter beers around, I really find myself hankering for a big chewy oatmeal stout or a nice porter or brown ale. I would feel like I was missing so much of what beer has to offer if I only drank one style. That would be like only eating one meal the rest of life - pizza is good, but it's not THAT good.

I'm fairly latitudinarian in my style selections. My last nine were a barleywine, a saison, a dry hopped session ale, a sour, an imperial dark rye, a gose, a belgian style pale ale, an american pale ale and I'm now drinking a vanilla porter. If I stumble on a style I haven't had, I'll probably buy it. At the same time I can understand sticking with DIPAs, they are very nice and I try to always have at least a couple in my fridge.
