Does Anyone Know Anything About Being A Beer Merchandiser?

    I am coming out of a long hiatus from employment and am looking for something active and not too serious to do for the next year or two. Saw an opening at a major distributor for "Beer Merchandiser" and it looks like fun. Anyone have any insights?

    I would assume that entails being there for larger account (big box stores and maybe grocery stores) deliveries and making sure that product is stocked and faced properly, maybe checking for out-of-code product. At the places I’ve worked, there’s generally been a couple distributor employees who tag along with the driver and do offloading/stocking. Not sure if that’s what that position is called for them in particular, but that’d be my guess. If you’re looking for something active yet easy going, it’s probably a decent gig. The ones that I got to know seemed to enjoy it and there didn’t seem to be particularly high turnover.

    Oh, I’ve seen many of them lacking in that department :wink:

    I’ve gotten in the habit of being extra vigilant over the years in trying to make sure that some of these reps remove old beer that they may have “missed”.
