I'm always ready for the season we aren't in. I can't remember how early fall beers come out. Anyone?

Thread inspired me to check the database if a beer like this one exists.

It's July already. Shouldn't Sam Adams have their winter pack out?

I saw a Pumpkin beer 2 weeks ago at a local Meijer (though I have a feeling it was from last year) Sam Adams has posted that Octoberfest will be out mid to late August and I'm assuming the Harvest Pack will follow after. A few more Oktoberfest's should be arriving shortly I'd imagine.

I really don't understand how this works. Aren't some of these "seasonal" beers brewed with seasonal ingredients that don't come to harvest until the actual season they are named after? Have there really been enough pumpkins harvested in the last six weeks that breweries could have added them to beer in time to be released in July? August? That means they harvested pumpkins in June or even late May. Are they freezing pumpkins from last fall so they can jump on the pumpkin train in July (are there even that many people who want pumpkin beers in July?), or getting them from the southern hemisphere? If not, and if there aren't enough pumpkins to harvest at this time, then wouldn't that mean a lot of these beers have to contain artificial flavors in order to be released at this time....?

I predict in the future mankind will find a way of preserving foodstuffs well enough that we can have a ready supply year around.

The source, for many breweries, is a bit closer than the southern hemisphere, and a lot easier than breweries freezing their own pumpkins a year in advance.

So glad Victory hasn't gone the way of fiscal seasonal releases. Same for Founders.
