Not directly but indirectly because alcohol lowers your blood sugar and your body wants to raise it back up so it begins to crave carbs like chips.

Carbs and a lot of bad carbs = weight gain.

I don't think drinking makes me more hungry. If anything it fills my stomach and suppresses hunger. But what it does do is reduce my inhibitions about eating for the taste when I've already had all the meals I planned to have in the day.

I don't get hungry as much as I get the fear of feeling worse the next day than I should. Last thought before grabbing the bag of potato chips is 'I should probably put something solid on top of that beer to help combat what I just did to myself'. Although I generally do not like to eat while I'm drinking - still haven't gotten into the food and beer pairings yet.

I have a similar problem. If I'm eating while I'm drinking, the little receptors that tell my brain I'm full get shut off. So, I either have one drink with dinner, or I don't have food around when I'm having more than a few.

I typically drink right after dinner, when I'm already full, and I can't recall the last time I got hungry from it. Maybe if I didn't have a proper dinner beforehand, but that's it.

I'll drink during the day sometimes on holidays or when I'm hanging out with a friend on a day off, but even then, I eat first and I'm fine. If I do get hungry later, it's when I would normally be getting hungry if I were sober.

The surgeon general did not mention hunger. Do you think he's leaving stuff out? He said birth defects, terrible driving & health problems. I think he probably should add,"terrible decision making."

There's no 'or' with my drunk munchies. I'd consume all that and probably make a sandwich on top of that...then hit up dessert again. If there's any devil dogs in the house, I'm waking up to empty wrappers near wherever I fell asleep and usually an empty glass of milk. Sometimes I disgust even myself.

nope it is the acetaminophen which is bad for your liver to begin with in combination with alcohol which is also bad for the liver the combination causes unnecessary damage to your internal organs.

It is bad. I cringe whenever I see people recommend taking tylenol before they go to sleep to ease the hangover..when they wake up and vomit blood because they thought it was a good that is when reality hits.

And to be more positive this thread got me thirsty. I had a big Chinese food dinner but the I felt my blood sugar getting low a few hours later so I was like whatever and cracked a beer. Good call :grinning:

Are there people who actually eat T-Bell during the day and/or when they're not hammered?

Just to clarify, they associated any risks with daily use of both pills and daily use of alcohol, not just doing it together few and far between. So while it may be dangerous to some, I personally drink maybe a beer or two 3 to 4 out of 7 nights of the week and take tylenol maybe twice a week. More than anything I take in much more water before bed, but if I know the next morning is bound not to be so bright and shiny I take a few pills before bed just that night, with honey. It's worked every time, and I haven't been warned by my doctor to discontinue that. It was more just my old wives tale that works for me. Cure the munchies by something crunchy and carb-y (graham cracker) and get the insulin leveled with sugars from the honey. I think if we're drinking, taking a Tylenol while drinking isn't the worst of our liver problems anyways :grinning: key is moderation, thus is life :sunglasses:

"Used in moderation, aspirin and alcohol rarely cause physical illness or disease. However, consuming large quantities of either drug can lead to long-term consequences to the human body. People who are at risk for heart attack or stroke should consult their primary care physician before beginning any aspirin regiment. It is important to inform your doctor of any health problems that you are experiencing, including ulcers, kidney disease or bleeding disorders, as aspirin can make these conditions worse."
