Does Beer Drinking Cause Hunger?

Only if you spend all of your grocery money on beer.

 

Yep get the beer munchies. Usually when I'm finished. I generally don't like to drink while I eat. Sure I'll have a glass of wine with dinner. Food = buzz kill for me so after one or two I enjoy the ride then order the wings.

 

Depends on what I'm up to at the time, but generally I combine beer with food anyway, so I guess my answer is yes.

On a good hoppy beer no (thank god). But on a high gravity beer .... bring on the junk food and of course some dessert!

 

i do something similar but probably a little less intense that you sound...i always start with the beer(s) that i have not had before and/or really want to focus on before i eat and then i will have a beer i enjoy but have had before while i eat (generally a pale ale or single IPA)

 

i do a multi vitamin instead of a tylenol and it works really well and is better for you (I think)

 

I can't resist chips (especially Doritos and kettle chips) after having a brew or two. I have many times found myself standing at the counter just eating and eating, before I know it the bag is 1/2 gone. I never limit the amount of beer I have in the house, but chips are rarely purchased.

yeah thats my bad saying tylenol. I just use it like a generic word like xerox. I actually take regular aspirin, not acetaminophen, but please don't take my advice, im no doctor!

 

Yes, I have been afflicted with the drunchies from time to time.

 

That's why the portmanteau "drunchies" has come into existence.

 

The more beer I drink the more hungry I think I am.

 

Alcohol causes hypoglycemia, so physiologically it makes sense that it would make you hungry.

 

Oh yes it does. After you've been drinking, you want to come back from that stupor before you go to sleep and eating is the trick. I imagine its much like if you replaced water with food, eventually, you just get so hungry for something solid.

Something about the alcohol lowering inhibitions, negating willpower = damn I can totally crush that whole plate of nachos by myself. That could very well be mistaken for "hunger"
