Does Beer Drinking Cause Hunger?

Eat or sleep...those are the two choices. Many days I'd rather eat but I've also been known to take a "nap" in the middle of the day

 

Definitely, when I drink good beer I want some good food to go with. However I'm always hungry.

 

Yes this is the combo that leads to such things as asking the mayor of New York if food delivery bicycles qualify as "emergency vehicles" so as to be allowed on the streets after 11 PM on "blizzard" nights....

It's frustrating to me. As soon as I start drinking, any hint of dietary discipline dissipates like the frothy head on my ale and I want to eat everything in the fridge and cupboards

 

I try to put down " a base" before any significant drinking. Once I open a bottle I run on beer and water for the duration.

If i restricted myself to a few pieces of toast, and cheese and crackers, and a "cup" (I only understand the "tub" measurement) of ice cream, then I'd consider that a personal victory for drunken self-control

I don't like to eat (feel full) when I'm drinking; in fact, I'll skip a meal if I know I'm having beer later. That, more than the beer/alcohol, I posit, causes me to require food after beer. BTW, I weigh less than I weighed in high school.

 

Well, if someone ever wanted to write a paper on this topic.. the data is all here lol. I'm guilty of being hungry after some good beer. I never attributed it to the beer though!

 

If I'm really drunk I want spicy food but that's probably cuz I've not eaten all day! While I'm drinking I love chocolate cake with stouts and porters though. Oh, fizzy Haribo jellys with a basic IPA is incredible as well.
