I just picked up the last six-pack in town and noticed it's a 10%. I really don't want to rush through this stuff, would like to save some if I could. Think this beer will sit well in my cellar for a few months?

I have some from 2010, still drinking fine.

It ages well, although it will lose some of its hop bite..

I like it better with a year on it personally, the hops fade and it gains a nice balance.

it only improves, I think it needs to lose that hop bite and turn into a brown sugar bomb. the less hoppy bottles I had were amazing.

I can't say how long it keeps, but that's the first beer that caused me to visit the the head for each glass.... oh my a$$.

Got a brand new sixer stamped "Don't open till 11/26/2013" sitting in the cellar.

Good to know, thanks. Although now that I'm drinking one, I think the idea of saving the rest for a year might be a trifle optimistic.

Good thread. I was wondering the same thing since I never aged this one. Can't wait to taste the results.

I'm doing the exact same thing. I have never had it with age so it'll b cool to compare a fresh and aged bottle side by side

I'm not a huge fan of Brown Shugga fresh. Maybe if it was on nitro...

It tastes like a really nice American Barleywine after a year or two in the cellar.

Had a bottle fresh a few days after its release this year. It was not the brown shugga I remembered. The rest is sitting until time can bring me that sweet nectar that I remember from years past.

Just did a 2009, 2010, & 2012 vertical with my gf. We both preferred it fresh. 2010 still had a bit of a bite on it but it bellowed out very well. The 2009 was, for lack of better words, was a disappointment. Over oxidized and overly sweet. My preference for this beer is now fresh or somewhere between 1 & 2 years.
