I don't take it too seriously. I look for certain releases regardless of their rarity and I generally have fun doing it.

Luckily I live 5-15 minutes from 5 major beer stores in town. It probably wouldn't be as fun if it were say...a 30min drive.

I have recently given up on the chase as it was putting a hurting on my wallet. It was also depressing when I could not get what I was searching for. But I still do ask each time I go to my local store if they have anything special and now just think of it as a treat when I can get something random.

I guess being new to the scene I don't mind the hunt right now but I can see how the process can get old after awhile.

I would not call it a chase, more like road trip to breweries and checking out the area. I rather try the beer at a bar than buy a six pack or a single bottle from a liquor store. Sometimes I wonder how long it's been there.

The only time I enjoy "chasing" a beer is when I see an update that a place has a beer I want, I go to that place and there's minimal crowd, and I get the beer that I went there for. Otherwise, it's frustrating.

Both. Living in Boston, its a pain in the ass to go anywhere, so when you chase a beer, traffic is included, and then one extra red light means that you miss out on the release. We in Mass get pitiful quantities of special releases, so chasing is almost not even worth it. The upside to living in Boston is that I can chase a beer at one of at least 100 shops.

I don't chase limited release beers. I've come to the conclusion that there are far too many great "easy to find" beers that I still have not tried.

I go to beer festivals and tasting events when they are close by and I have time, and I have had lots of limited release beers just by doing so. I often find that these can be really great, but not worth the effort of over-paying for them.

Of course, if I can find them easily and for an affordable price, then I will usually pick up what I can.

This...two-three years ago I used to drive around maybe a 30 mile radius on days off or not much to do in search of either something I was looking for or maybe just the thrill of the hunt. I've found 750 ml older batches of Russian River sours this way for 25 bucks sitting on shelves. Now I have a cellar of beer I need to drink and more important things I need to do with my time (gasp!) so I'm less tolerant of the whole process. But if I do find something good nearby and theres no limit I usually call 4-5 people and buy them bottles. I get an equal thrill of hooking up friends.

    I don't chase beer.

I'm lucky enough to have more great beer that's easily accessible than I could ever drink. Sometimes my interest is piqued by all of the hype going on here over some bbbwcbwbcsbwbcb or other release, but unless I come across it in the course of other shopping, I don't really bother going after it. I've wondered if I would be moved to go more out of my way should I live somewhere less well-lubricated, but fortuitously I spend very few days of the year in any such place.

I think the general feeling among most people is: exciting when you succeed, frustrating when you don't get the beer you want

I definitely do not mind the chase; however, when I have to chase locals, it can become frustrating.

I'd rather chase dragons, if you know what I mean.

Also, I think the chase, to many people, is better than the catch.

I think it's a little of both. Some limited beers must be chased in and around Chicago because they fly off the shelves. This year has been pretty good to me, I've knocked off some major wants with both a little effort and luck and drank some damn good beers in the process.

I've been working in Lansing Michigan 3 days a week and living in Toledo Ohio. It's been fun seeing the beers that are available in MI compared to OH. I like going into stores, talking about beer and buying beer. I have noticed I don't need to "chase" the next great beer but finding backwoods bastard, ten fidy, and the GI Sisters has been fun.

Of coarse drinking an Eddy Fitz is still good so when you miss out on a beer you want the old stand by will always be there.

It's also great having a BA brother inlaw in chicago, brought me a case of daisy cutter for thanksgiving.

Love it, even the lines. So many great people and shop owners in the Chicago craft beer scene. Props to Chris at Beer Temple and Kristina at West Lakeview Liquors. Still shocked by their generosity and how they treat their patrons like fellow enthusiast first and foremost.

I am proud to say that I have never chased a beer.

If a brewery wouldn't go out of their way to get it to me, I wouldn't even dream of going out of my way to buy it.

Plenty of good stuff out there that I can get easily.

Used to be exciting which later turned to frustration as the years of chasing went on. Now I just don't care. If I happen to get my hands on a special release, great. But I don't go out of my way or make a special trip looking for it. If I never try it it's all good. There are plenty of easier or even year round beers that are just as delicious.
