Of course it matters try drinking your beer, wine , bourbon, whatever out of a dixie cup. Then use a wineglass (this is the best for many beers IMO) or snifter and tell me there's no difference.

How do you remove them? I'd like to do that if I can without damaging the glasses.

    Does it "matter?" No.

Will it change your experience of a beer? Yes.

Ever try smelling a beer out of a bottle? It's silly; don't try it. Just pour it in a glass.

As I like to remark, I can drink orange juice out of a tulip and it looks f'n magnificent. Ever try looking at your beer through a brown bottle? The difference really goes without saying. Depends what you want out of your experience.

I hate logos too... but for a different reason. this lazy lady refuses to hand wash ANYTHING. I don't want some stupid logo that can't go in the dishwasher.
I DO like sandblasted designs though. No fading issues!

yeah, for me, washing dishes is the antithesis of all beer is to me.... something to relax with after a long day, and ignore any more obligations. I would avoid beer if I had to do dishes. I hate dishes that much.

I never thought glassware mattered until sometime in 2009/10, when I poured a Stone RIS in my newly-acquired Dogfish Head snifter and noticed a difference vis-a-vis the same beer in my DFH shaker.

That said, I still prefer most things out of my mason jars now...

I just got me a pair of Spieglau Stout Glasses, and I would definitely say that there's a noticeable difference, especially with smell- those glasses really boost the aromas of a stout. Plus, they look super awesome and make a nice conversation piece. Of course, specialized glassware like that is still only really worth it if you drink a lot of that style.

The IPA glass from Sierra Nevada and Dogfish head really work nicely for IPA's.I thought glasses were more or less a gimmick but I love these things.[IMG]

To an extent... You need some king of glass for the aroma. As for me, my go to glass is a goblet.

I'd say it matters in that at a minimum you should pretty much always use a glass. Bottles/cans just don't do aroma the same way any kind of glass can. Tulips and snifters are generally good at this. Obviously you can get much more specialized. I don't know if it really makes that much difference, but it's never a bad thing to do it up right if you can.

Agreed. I like how snifter and tulip glasses make you feel like you have a "globe" of beer in your hands, which feels awesome. It's also fun holding it from stem and swirling it, feelin' all fancy.

If I'm forced to drink from the vessel, I'm going with a can. Drinkability is smoother and easier, and there's something quite satisfying about slurping the liquid across the cold metal edge. Pounding an IPA from a cold tallboy on a hot summer day, while still not as good as drinking from a glass, is still pretty satisfying.
