I had a friend going to Burlington VT, and I asked her to pick up some Super Session and Sip O’ Sunshine IPA. I never buy it in the Boston area because it’s brewed in CT. I was hoping to get something that was brewed and canned at the brewery in VT. She came home with Super Session and the IPA that was brewed in .....CT! Do I have to go to the tap house to get something from Lawson’s that’s actually brewed in VT?
VT-brewed Lawsons does get distributed to MA. Not a lot and not that often as far as I can tell, but it is around.
They do not brew SS or SoS in VT. It has always been brewed and canned in CT. Even the SS and SoS they serve in the VT taproom says Brewed in Statford CT on the menu. If you have ever liked SS or SoS, you like CT brewed SS and SoS. For one of their anniversary parties they had 22oz bottles of SoS (5 or so years ago). I don't know for sure, but maybe these were brewed in VT. All of the other cans are brewed and canned in VT. They also release some bottles and have some tap offerings from their original system. The VT cans see somewhat random distro in VT and MA (as mentioned above).
Bombers have all been done at Two Roads. And as everyone else has stated, rest of the brews are done in VT. The new taphouse in Waitsfield is awesome and the increase capacity has allowed a lot more beer to be produced. Certain stores have had a number of VT beers available, but I think that has reduced. It seems they are doing one beer a month with a larger production for wider distro: MA and CT at least. This month is Hopzilla. They have done Maple Nipple, The Space Between, and Scrag Mountain Pils that I can recall. Sean Lawson has always been very upfront on where the beer is produced and the beer has been labeled as such. To the OP, sorry you only got the CT brewed stuff. They are good, but not nearly the same beers what is done in VT IMHO.
To add to this, I was just up there and chatted with the to-go person and she said that everything they brew except Double and Triple Sunshine will get occasional out of state distribution. They wanted to keep those two local to the brewery area (either for mystique or due to limited hop availability, not sure which. Maybe both). As to the CT vs. VT brewed stuff, I did like Double Sunshine more than Sip of Sunshine. Seemed a bit fuller bodied though I didn't do a side to side. Awesome place and the food was quite good.
Do you mean the SoS bombers from the Anny party? NH has seen some random distro too. The Hanover Coop usually has one can in addition to the SoS and SS option. Double Sunshine was there once. Scrag Mountain seems to always be there. I have seen Chinookr'd, Space Between, Nipple, etc.
Bombers at 2 roads? Really? When I went to the tap room in June i bought a bomber of a black IPA. Rooski I believe it was called. A tribute to an employee who passed away. I was told it was brewed at Sean’s House on the the small system there. They made it sound like that would continue to be a thing, small scale bombers produced in the OG location for sale at the new space.
I think he was talking about the time they put SoS into bottles for an anniversary party. Rooski was from original system. At the brewery now they have Hopcelot in bottles too.
