Noticing that people go ballistic for brewery only under 1000 bottle releases. Do they always measure up to the hype? Are your ratings for those beers skewed higher because of the limited release? I'm sure someone has researched this.

You have been a member since 2002 and you are just noticing this?

I'd say people should expect more if they pay more and have to go above and beyond going to the local store to get them.

Limited releases can mean great brews @ a great price like
    CW
    BB Stout
    BBBW
    BB Peruvian Morning

Noticing its gone to a whole new level. I think I was actually thinking along the lines of if there was only 1000 bottles of Beer X released, would 10,000 bottles of beer X have a lower or higher rating? The fact that the reviewer says, "I'm one of only 300 people to try this beer, it's fantastic". No matter what the beer really tastes like.

Yes....and it absolutely should(lead to higher expectations)....Generally a beers limited cause of the price/time/risk it takes to brew. Some if not all those into effect should equal a better beer...However Some companies can't seem to pull it off....Or say it's limited for people to seek it out...

I'll let you know when I pick up Flying Dogs Barrel Aged Horn Dog Barleywine. They only brewed 300 bottles of it, so it should be good...

Higher expectations? Not necessarily. Hopes? Absolutely.

Limited release and previous success, both lead to higher expectations.

Of course it does how do you think Founders, Heady, and plenty of other so called world class beers got where they are I think people are tasting the rarity more than the beer.
