Does Oklahoma suck when it comes to releases/distribution?

I am in Oklahoma for work and have been since July, and I must say the beer releases here seem to suck. I couldn't find CBS anywhere today ( granted I am in Lawton but we actually have 2 stores here that sell a lot of Founders) and I couldn't find Bourbon County anywhere either, including OKC. And whenever I call around to ask no one seems to know what I'm talking about. When Dogfish released their Oak aged Vanilla Worldwide stout it came here a full month after my family in Indiana had it. In fact, every once in a while my parents in Indiana seem to get Prairie Releases before certain stores here get them. Not to mention most stores seem to have their craft beer truck come once every two weeks. The one store I frequent seems to be running out of Sierra Nevada, how is that even possible?

Is it just me not looking hard enough or does this state not seem to get anything? I have to ask because I was really looking forward to CBS so I'm fairly pissed off to not even get any around here.

Are the Prairie releases the same way too? Because I haven't seen Bourbon Paradise around here either but supposedly its been around the east coast already.

Bourbon paradise, bourbon county, and CBS have not been released in OK yet. Which stores are you shopping at?

I don't have any issues with getting Prairie in Tulsa and surrounding areas. BCBS isn't coming until beginning of the year. Doom and other more limited releases seem to come in a month or so later. Dogfish Head has only been around this area for a year or so so it makes some sense for this, and the same can be said for Ballast Point. Living here you learn to work around the issues.

This was pretty much my first thought after I read the OP's post. I don't really worry about beers showing up two months later than the original release though unless it's an IPA. I'll agree with you on not having that hard of a time getting most of the Prairie beers in the OKC area. It's become even easier now that the brewpub is open downtown and some of the limited release beers have been on tap.

Do to our current antiquated laws regarding "high point" beer, its manufacture +sale & our "3-tier" distribution system, the beer broker(age) must submit all the correct labels, licensing, etc... from each brewery. As you could imagine, this process is very time consuming & often delays specific limited & seasonal offerings from reaching the retail store shelves in the (brewery's) intended time frame. We (Okies) have come to except this anticlimactic behavior, so we just breathe deep, stay calm & drink beer from the previous month. Hopefully, things will change in October of 2018 when the law changes but I wouldn't hold my breath. Cheers! :beers:

Everything I've been hearing is that CBS will drop in Oklahoma around the 15th

There's already a couple of bars that have tapped it in OKC. One was at TapWerks and I think the other was Pub W, but I'm not 100% certain which location it was.

At the time I had been to Whole foods and fluffys here in Lawton along with cache rd liquor. I have not seen BCBS at any or CBS. But judging by this those will arrive this week. I finally found Bourbon Paradise so that is a win. It was definitely spotted though first along the east coast but I guess me not being in Tulsa or OKC hurts.

You should look for the stuff that you can only find in Oklahoma. You will be able to get the other stuff as soon as you leave.

Well not so much because I live in Indiana and they are pretty much all out there and I go back to Indiana this weekend for good so if CBS doesn't release this week then it was perfectly timed where I miss it in both regions. Oh well, its just beer I guess.

I feel your pain - I am really good at showing up one day after the beer truck shows up with the hot new beer.
