I noticed 3 philosophers is a "blended" style quad with:

"98% ale and 2% kriek" (as written on the label)

Does ommegang release just a quad without the blended kriek?

    Not to my knowledge.

3 Phils is even better after a couple years. The 2% added lambic adds another dimension of awesomeness.

Not widely, that's their main quad.

They have released a more "straight" quad as one of their anniversary ales-

Though it was released a few years ago, I know it's still on the shelves at a place around here (at least it was a few months ago, haven't checked there in a while)

Yes, I believe XV was a straightforward quad. Unfortunately, that was a one-off beer.

But I agree with others who say that 3 Philosophers is a phenomenal beer. If you don't want the cherry flavor, then consider Adoration. It has a flavor in line with Belgian "Christmas" quads like St. Bernardus Christmas.

It is phenomenal. I just recently bought 3 of them and very much enjoyed the first one. I am not one to sit on beer though, so these wont be cellared. I only asked out of curiousity, not because I felt that a non blended quad would be better.
