As said, it all adds up. The view of differences may be different, but my perception of what I feel is pricey to not pricey is still my own feel based on what I want (or can) spend, you know?

I've witnessed prices climb so much in my day, a few cents really makes a difference in a commodity that isn't a necessity.

FYI: I wasn't being facetious when I said I wanted to move where prices were lower.

Agree on Mik and ET. In 5 years, I've never bought a Mikeller, and only once splurged on a lone 4pk of ET. My other "never due to price" brand is Bruery, it's just crazy. But, hey, ST Helles is 8.99 per six here in NY. And it's good. Yet, obviously, no helles at normal abv should be more than 10 or 11 per six. I'd walk past it at 12 also. Sorry for the gouging in KY, I sort of thought ST tried to keep their 6ers in the reasonable range (yeah, I bet the CremeBrulee and Rum-Barrel Pumking continue to be outrageous, and I never even pay for them here). Console yourself with some of those nice midwest beers that NYers can't get.

If it's really crazy, I'll really consider whether it's worth it or not. Some of the higher priced ones like Cascade fruity beers and The Bruery's weekday beers are tough to buy sometimes, but they're stellar beers, so I end up biting the bullet anyway.

My wife says price doesn't matter though...don't know if she's just saying that to make me feel better

How much do Bruery weekday beers go for there? I've not even seen one here, i have to go across the river to Indiana for Bruery, but most of their 750s are about 23 bucks.

If a beer is scarce price does not bother me. Just bought two bottles of Mocha Wednesday for $40 a pop. Glad I have the chance to enjoy them. Would rather pay a bottle shop more knowing that they have the beer than to keep running to my local big box hoping they might get what and than only to find out they sold out earlier in the day.

With our discount, Black Tuesday was about $30, Mocha Wednesday $34 and I'm waiting on Grey Monday. I'm sure it'll be $34 too. The Cascades follows suit as well in the mid 30's to low 40's, even at the tap room!

Price does not matter to me. Beer is an expensive hobby, but not anymore than cars or guns or whatever else someone is in to. I will gladly pay $30+ for a limited release that I really want. I used to drink wine more frequently than beer and wine prices get out of hand quickly, so I don't feel bad spending the money on world class beer offerings.

Price doesn't really matter to me (I say that only because I can't think of a time when I have ever walked away from something I really wanted because of price...). That being said, if there is a new brewery, they need to come in with some introductory pricing to get me interested. I'll roll the dice on a couple six packs below $9 if something is new, but if you come into the market at $11.99, I can get beer I know is good for the same or less.

I suspect that I am going to start trading down in my beer purchases due to price, I love Two Hearted, but if Hop Hunter is priced $2 lower, it won't take me a second to trade one for the other. Heck, if one is a buck +- I'll probably go with the one that is cheaper. Another example, some of the $15-$25 bombers, I don't really bother because I've mostly been disappointed in a lot of the stuff I've had from bruery and others. Knowing that I can get two solid six packs for the price of that bomber doesn't really excite me about the bomber.

If I know I like it and can't get it for cheaper, I'll shell out. I'm more frugal with new beers unless they come highly recommended by people I trust or from breweries I know.

I keep in budget. I love purchasing limited releases but definitely do my research. I'd rather have a few "domestics" for a few nights than spend $10+ on a 4pk. That goes for bombers too. I rarely buy them unless they are items I've purchased in the past, so.... 95% of the time I pass on them. I wish I could afford paying for the good stuff all the time.....HopSlam was over priced and may not buy again.

I always want to try new beer, so I'll splurge every now and then for that, but as a go-to, I try to stay reasonable. Sierra Nevada is always a solid go-to.

Yeah the prices use to be just right here but they keep going up. For whatever reason I don't enjoy their beers at much.

I used to buy mostly 6 packs and if it was more than $10 a 6er I'd rarely buy it. Now I'm much more A.D.D. with my beer and my rule of thumb is $3 for ~80% of my 12oz purchases and $12 for bombers. I've never purchased a bomber for more than $19 and I plan on keeping it around that max for quite a while.

    another non-question
If the beer was $5000 for a 12 ounce bottle, 99% of us wouldnt buy it. Those lying about that fact probably work at a beer store.

I don't know why but a lot of our prices are lower. At Total Wine I get fresh Sculpin for $12.99 and then there's often beer coupons for $1 off/sixpack limit 4. So $11.99 for Sculpin is quite a deal.

Some of the barrel aged beers and limited releases are starting to get stupid expensive IMO. As much as I love beers from Prairie, I'm no longer willing to pay $10+/bottle for a 12oz - no matter how good it is. There are just too many other great beers out there that at much more affordable, but to each his own. Cheers!
