Southern Tier gets a rep for too much sweetness in beers like unearthy and even backburner, creme brulee . . . etc . . . but then you do miss out an all the solid offerings they have like their IPA, their pale ales, 2X stout, 2XIPA, Iniquity, Imperial compass, Hop Sun and in the end you discover unearthly was delicious and not any sweeter than nugget nectar.

They definitely barrel age some of the beers - they show up on tap (and at tap takeovers) around the NYC area pretty often.

Good clarification. It seems like a lot of people get oak aged and barrel aged confused as well as oak barrel aged and bourbon barrel aged. Another recent thread about "every day bourbon barrel stout" had a lot of people mentioning NH dragons milk which I'm pretty sure is only aged In virgin oak barrels and not bourbon barrels. They do however age whiskey in the barrels previously used to age dragons milk, ultimately ending up with a beer barrel aged whiskey.

I believe Dragons Milk is aged in spent Heaven Hill barrels if I remember correctly
