    "Ummm...American... Pale.... Lager?

    I'm guessing this is a simple auto-correct.

    API = Application Programming Interface
What? You don't get that in your beers?

I had another sample yesterday, IMO just another rushed beer to capitalize on the hot beer of the minute, forget the name and brewery, by local. Passed and bought a 1516 Red Oak instead. It’s not the style that doesn’t work , it’s the BS attempts to copycat a profile. Rush it to market on a beer that imo doesn’t work from the start, it’s about comical. A so so beer at its best being hustled up while it’s relevant. But it’s not, it just insures it’s death.

I'd be curious how you liked falls river brewings Brut Force. Not exactly what you're describing but not juice land or real resinous.

I'm an IPA drinker, NEIPA preferably, used to drink West Coast style, but Brut reminds me more of NEIPA. I believe Brut will be available in 8 years, because it appeals on multiple levels, but I admit I might have said that about black IPA 8 years ago and I never see that on menus today. On the other hand, I had a couple of great black IPAs (Otter Creek Alpine Black is first to mind) and 10 times as many bad ones before I gave up, whereas the 4 Bruts I tried are from coast to coast and all delicious. Sparkler from Sixpoint in Brooklyn, then DAF from Surly in Mpls, then Saddleback from Uinta in UT, and then one from Reno or Sparks, whose name I can't recall, they were all delicious. I drink IPA to enjoy modern, fruity, dank hops and avoid caramel maltiness, and all the Bruts I've tried so far, from 4 to 7% abv, have been easy winners. If they're as hard to make well as most of the posts I read here suggest, then I tip my hat to all the skilled brewers in this country, and I thank my lucky stars that for once in my life, my tastes have aligned with so many consumers.

I have enjoyed most of the Bruts I have tried. They taste great on their own but really shine when paired with food. I really like a good Brut paired with a cheese and sausage platter.

They are tasty when done right but sadly I think people want the juicy stuff so I don't know if the style will take off at this point and time. Will be curious to look back in 5 years and see if the style is still around? In looking at breweries and their recent actions most are moving their product into the haze craze and that is their sole focus least to me.

When was the last time you drank/purchased an IPL (Imperil Pale Lager)?

    Cheers!

Me neither. It sure seems to me that IPLs such as Jack's Abby Hoponius Union were real popular a few years ago (e.g., 3 years ago?) but you just don't hear about them (or see them on tap) anymore.

Are IPLs a 'model' for how Brut IPAs play out over time?

    Cheers!

There were 3 on the list last Saturday.

I had Putting on the Spritz. It was pretty hazy fromfthe hops, and a little astringent. With food the astringency faded. Finish was dry. I liked it well enough.

Had a sample of their Brut at FW. It was less hazy, dry, not astringent. Some fruity tropical hops used

That is a perfect example of what I was thinking. You put it into words better than I
    My answer then is yes

Three quotes from the article say it all: “Some control systems [in Boulevard’s automated brewery] that read density couldn’t tell the difference between water and Brut IPA because of its low finishing gravity,” he reveals.

"...two things that sales show are appealing to the American beer consumer: a high degree of drinkability, and a high level of hop character...."

“What I find ironic is that a Brut IPA bears more than a passing resemblance to mainstream macro lager,” says Markowski of Two Roads."

When my girlfriend tried, Antietam Brut IPA--she was blown away by how good it was. The creator of Brut called it "champaign IPA."

Even has that dry champaign taste.

No doubt it's going to stay in the market.

Yeah but it's different. READ my reply above. This brut stuff has a mainstream feel. Im going to bet it's still around and strong in 2030. My girlfriend is not a huge fan of beer and she could drink a whole can. Brut is strong and mainstream.

I didn't notice any big bump and then drop off of IPLs. They are usually only made by lager specific breweries and if anything those guys seem to be making more of them than ever before

I hope not. Have had a few, not really liked any of them. It just doesn't work, for me.
