I bought two dozen pint glasses solely for my beer at the house. I had an idea of each of my friends having his own beer glass at my house. So, I bought an engraver and custom made each of them his own glass. I know it sounds silly but everyone loves coming over and grabbing HIS glass and pouring a cold one from the tap.

Almost forgot , I break out my authentic German steins on special occasions. I love drinking out of them , but Im always terrified one will get broken. My wifes family sends me one from Germany each year for my birthday. They look cool as hell but damn they are heavy.

Certain glasses are for certain beers but for those with limited space (like me) a snifter or tulip will benefit just about any brew you drink

I think its a tulip! I would definitely use it as either a tulip or snifter tho!

a lot of truth (and non-sense) has already been stated in this thread...my $0.02 - decide for yourself.

get a buddy or two and few different glass types out and split a bomber into the different glasses. everyone try the beer in each glass and pick your favorites. you may be surprised to see that people have different opinions for some beers and others they feel the same about. it really all depends on what you enjoy about a beer and what the beer has to offer to your senses in each glass.

for me, i find that i typically enjoy snifters or tulips (or any glass with a wide bottom and a narrower mouth) for most beers, but if the beer has a really strong smell that i'm not a big fan of (coconut for example...or even some of the acetone or vinegar smells that some brews carry) then i prefer a glass with a less pinched nose or one that tulips out at the top to let the aroma out more.

as for best beer and glass pairing my vote goes to stouts and snifters or belgians and their appropriate glasses (tulips or chalices) since i find that they catch the nose the best and let the beer breath and warm up the best.
