My IPA is currently 10 days in to the fermentation. It seems to be sitting consistently at my target final gravity and I believe the fermentation to be finished. Please correct me if I am wrong. I just opened the conical fermenter for the first time since I filled it on brew day. This is what I saw. What is thay floating on top? Is it normal? I detect no off flavors or smells.

Looks like good ole' krausen. It should drop out as fermentation ends.

What was the FG? How any samples did you take and how fart apart?

Just out of curiosity is this your first beer? Or just the first time you have looked into the fermenter?

At first look I'd say yea, but those bubbles look suspicious in second picture. Might be the beginning of a lacto infection.

I felt mighty brave clicking this link....

But more seriously - 10 days is pretty quick, I doubt it will hurt to sit a couple more to be safe. What temp was the fermentation at?

An accidental sour IPA? (delicious) Although you would smell that in a heartbeat. Looks like some beer.

If the beer does have an infection wouldn't the Gravity continue to drop and finish really low? We don't know what the FG is yet.

I was under the impression lacto does not do well in high IBU environments

It's too early to tell for sure, but it looks like a possible infection. Wait one more week. The surface should be mostly clear by then unless it's infected.
