Hey folks, don't want to be redundant and I've perused many of the other threads with regards to visiting Maine and different breweries, restaurants, etc.. but I was hoping some of you could chime in and help me in specifically identifying some dog friendly places (whether allowed inside or on a patio outside or whatever).

We'll be staying in Kennebunkport and plan to check out some of the neighboring towns as well as Portland area. As far as breweries, right now I'm hoping to have time to at least stop by Bissell, Foundation & Austin St. Maybe Maine & Allagash too if I have time.

As for bars/restaurants, the only place I've come up with so far is Salt & Honey, so I welcome any other dog-friendly recommendations for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even just a beer. Bonus points to places that have some decent beer and also cocktails or wine for the wife.

We will also be looking for a dog friendly spot for an early dinner in the Portsmouth area one night.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm sure someone can expound on Maine's specific health regulations but I've always found Maine and Portland in particular to be very dog-friendly in general. Looking at this resource I see it's mostly places with outdoor seating: http://www.bringfido.com/restaurant/state/maine/

If your dog is a service dog you'll be in good shape. For most eat-in restaurants you would be well-advised to contact them first. Novare has an outdoor patio so that's where I'd be.

I don't think dogs are allowed on Novare's patio anymore.

I've brought my dog to Allagash many times. They allowed her on the outdoor patio, but not inside.

Dogs are definitely not allowed on Novare's patio.

I can confirm that. This lil guy in my profile picture was so disappointed last summer.

I'd give La Orilla a call in Ogunquit. They're purely outdoors and their layout felt like it could be dog friendly (even if he's technically not allowed at the table, the tables are mostly along an area that could be considered "off property")

The food is incredible and they have solid drinks and beer selection too, if limited.

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far. I pulled up that bringfido.com list as well, but I was wondering is if you recognize any of those places as spots with good beer menus? There are 15 spots listed in Portland alone http://www.bringfido.com/restaurant/city/portland_me_us/ , and then there a bunch of smaller lists for towns like Kennebunk, Wells, Saco, Old Orchard, etc.

You can bring your dog to the Thirst Pig in Portland. They have a nice patio area that is dog friendly, and they usually have a great tap list too! We brought ours last summer.

Oxbow in Portland has been allowing dogs in.

It's not on the bring fido website, but the outside patio at Novare Res is your answer for best beer selection in my mind.

Thanks, someone up the thread said dogs are not allowed at Novare anymore though.

Ah - didn't see that. As someone suggested I would check in with the Thirsty Pig which is almost directly across from Novare. Great beer selection and sausages.

I think I already saw it further up in the thread but for the best food and draft list combo in the city in my mind is Pai Men Miyake. It's a well-curated draft list without being heavy in any particular genre (other than the ubiquitous IPAs).

Cool, thanks. I'll look into both of those!

Tributary Brewing in Kittery is very dog friendly if you're passing through.

Since I didn't mention it, best to clarify that I do NOT believe Pai Men would be dog-friendly. Certainly check with them, but I would suspect they are not.

Thanks, that's on my list of spots too, but not sure I'll have time when we're passing through that area.

Thanks, understood. We can do some meals without him so those are good recs too! We just like having the chance to sit on a patio with the whole family if possible
