My wife and I adopted a dog recently and named him Scrimshaw. We love the name for him. Another dog we looked at and were considering getting we would have named Mongo. I really like Mongo for a dog name and might use it on the next dog we get (if & when that is)

A female German Shepherd and a great German hop to brew with is "Perle". I dunno, just sounds like a good fit, my two cents! We're a dog family also but we gravitate towards Greyhounds and they already come with a name since they're adults when adopted.

Hey, Surly only looks out for one guy... Surly (I had to).
Was drinking a Colette earlier and thought that sounded like a good dog name.

I have a female husky mix, we think with shepherd, absolutely beautiful dog, but stubborn as hell. Wife had her before I was in the picture and named her after her mother's recently departed dog, Georgie, George for short. Will shed like crazy, but so worth it.

Are you seriously this bent out of shape over this? Either drop a name suggestion or move on

My mother has a giant German shepherd that she named Amstel. It's a way better dog name than a beer.

I liked Perle too, one of our contenders from brainstorming last night.

I agree should be organic, now we've got a few more names floating in our head when we do get to bring her home. We got to hang out with her last night for a few hours so it sparked this discussion. We're also brainstorming off-line, some are non-beer related.

Yes she does have a name, but she's only 6 weeks old, part of making her ours and adding her to our family is naming her.

To clarify I didn't turn to yahoo answers was just referencing the low-quality responses that come up with a "dog beer name" search.

The latest addition to the family at Ebenezers, also a shepherd, is named Tsjeeses.
