A local retailer has about a dozen bottles of 120minute on the shelf. It is common that this beer is not shelved as most of you know. Bottling date is 04/18/2014. It's now November. I'm getting the impression that the buyer wants to get rid of these bottles now to anticipate his next shipment. I am very educated to the fact that 120min is a great beer to age (I have 3 in my basement that are all over 2yrs old now). Should I be leery of these beers? Is there something not adding up here or is this a safe purchase? Or am I overthinking this one?

    Thanks in advance

I think you may be over thinking this one a little. This one was a rarity after the batches were dumped a few years back but now it seems to sit around. I see it on the shelves pretty often and the last time it was not on the shelves there were cases of it piled up on the floor of a liquor store in Joliet, IL. If the price is right and then sure grab some. I have been finding them lately for 8.49/bottle and as high as 10.99.

They were $9/bottle at the brewpub. I wouldn't worry that they are still around. If you want some with a couple month head start, grab em.
